I'm curious about the old - soon to maybe reinstated - "ignore" function. When you "ignore" someone are they made aware that they're being"blocked" and that you can't read their posts?

Yeah. Thanks for your input, "sutton". As always since 5/21/10, it adds absolutely nothing to the conversation.

I wish the mods would be just as concerned with the two or three people who are constantly rude on this board as they are with "trolls."
It's fun to come here and read everyone's opinions, but it's not fun seeing the same small group instigating arguments and making others feel uncomfortable.
Thanks to everyone who contributes positively and appropriately. This is a great resource!

Posted: 8/23/13 at 7:54amART3 that is why I plan to list those I am ignoring on my signature, so they and others on the board know that is why I am not responding to their comments. This also gives the trolls an actual concrete idea of how much they are not loved and are not the object of an adolescent crush.

Wilmingtom, many have tried just ignoring the trolls (one in particular), but they continue to clog thread after thread with inflammatory posts. You end up scrolling by a dozen, two dozen posts to read the ones that are actually contributing to the conversation.
Iabwayfan, you can similarly block anyone you find too rude to read.

I think the ignore feature is a great idea, and hope it will be implemented as soon as possible.
For myself, I think it will be doubly beneficial.
I can block out all the vulgar, cliquish, snarkmeisters who soil this discussion board (among them, ironically, the most vociferous protesters against trolls.)
And all those who don't like what I say and consider me a troll can now blissfully ignore me, and I won't have to listen to their insults and constant whining, which invariably end up derailing threads to the justifiable annoyance of others.
So everyone here will benefit and peace and happiness will reign supreme.

I can't wait for this to come back. While many of the "instigators" might be considered for blocking, they are also an amazing source of knowledge. For that, they are more than worth keeping visible (to me).
Oh, and sometimes they are damn funny.

Oh, no. Woe is me, for After Eight is going to use the ignore feature to block me and others. How ever shall we live?
And in that case, I do find it almost hysterical that one of the boards nastiest posters claims he is so above any kind of "snakiness" this board has.

The mods do nothing (or nearly nothing) until they are reports, 90% of the time.
