And, I will admit, right here and now, that I have always spotted trolls as soon as they appear. Some of them might take longer, after they've signed up, to start problems, but I always can tell who they are going to be.
It has something with the way they respond to other posters. I can never put my finger on it, but I have never, ever been wrong.
Well, except for one poster who isn't a troll, but I could spot they were not being truthful about some of their posts.
Now, the summer comes and there are just so many of them that it just pisses me off all the way around.
I've used this metaphor before, but it's like we are all enjoying a lovely party with intelligent conversations, and then the door slams open and people come running up to the punch bowl and just pee into it, and then that person wonders why no one else find them funny.
New posters used to actually introduce themselves when they start, and then we would learn a little bit about them BEFORE they started vomiting their opinions all over the place and demanding respect.
Respect is something that is earned, and so many of us have put in the time to get to know one another.
So, forgive me if I've been rude, but I have been burned too many times here to fake being cheery.
