Does anyone have any predictions as to what show may move into the Lunt after DBH closes on June 28?

Right? They aren't keeping that theater dark that long. It's too viable. Let's use our brains, folks. It's crazy some of the rumors you all fall for. Warriors is taking this theater.

So someone will put a play with a movie star there in the fall.

I feel like Brendan Hunt's solo show could be a decent fall filler if the Lunt-Fontanne doesn't have a potentially longer-running tenant in the wings. (I refuse to believe Sweaty and long ago blocked him on all platforms.)
Or, it could secure the more intimate Horne if SIX decides to close soon.

Hough isn't right for Lola. And she's no a good singer. I've heard NPH is all but finalized at this point. Would McClure settle for being his standby?

I know that they need to sell tickets, but not having Rob as Applegate would be such a shame. He was absolutely electric in the role in DC. Truly a Tony-worthy performance.

NPH has proven to be a very reliable box office draw and it's a good role for him- albeit one that seems like he could do in his sleep- so it makes sense. Sucks for McClure, but it's obvious this revival will need star power and Applegate is the easiest role for a name.

Wow the immediate turn off this became lol. I was interested with the last cast.

Up here in Boston, both Black Swan (A.R.T.) and Paranormal Activity (Emerson Colonial) finish up in July, with the latter already billed as a pre-Broadway run. Maybe one or both could swoop in?

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY begins previews August 14 and opens September 15 at the August Wilson Theatre.

A friend of mine who knows Sergio Trujillo said that Matthew Broderick was also considered for Applegate. I don’t know if he ever got into negotiations, or how far the “consideration” went, but apparently he was in the running. That would be horrible casting, IMO.

Broderick has become the very rare performer whose casting will make me avoid seeing productions.

I have always loathed him on screen, but never got an opportunity to see him perform on stage until a season or two ago when he played the title character in Babbit at Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC. I went to see it out of pure curiosity, and it confirmed what I'd always thought. He was dreadful (as was the production as a whole). I am in agreement that he will keep me away from a show.

Jinx Monsoon in Over the Rainbow but Neil Patrick Harris crashes EVERYTHING

Damn Yankees not coming in until next spring, allegedly (house unknown).

Sadly, you're right. The same older audiences that would recognize the property would see his name at would be catnip.
Just a shame that with a cast so diverse as the Arena stage version, the starriest roles would likely end up with two very white blondes.

Seems interesting to go traditional proscenium for this show given its run at Arena. If it’s back to a traditional staging what makes this revival special?

Regarding replacements for NPH: if I were a producer, I’d want to consider Ted Danson, who played a DIFFERENT charming demon a few years ago to great acclaim. It’s an easy sing and he has the right vaudevillian charm that can shade into menace.

Is Fiddler on the Roof still coming in?

There’s only one in-the-round house and everyone and their brother wants Circle in the Square. I wish Broadway had another thrust or round or flexible house, but alas…

Re: DAMN YANKEES - Of course they could temporarily reconfigure a theater to be thrust or in the round (such as the recent CABARET at the August Wilson, HERE LIES LOVE at the Broadway), but that obviously adds great expense…maybe they ARE aiming for Circle in the Square after JIT closes down the road?
