I don't see that anyone has caught this yet, but Sharon Leal has been posted on IMDb.com as playing the role of Michelle in the movie version of "Dreamgirls." This is a pretty big part. She's the one who takes over as a Dream, once Effie is booted out of the group.
I don't see any official announcement of her involvement in the project yet, but a posting on IMDB counts (if nothing else) as a "strong rumor." Regardless, of its questionable validity...
Anybody know much about her? It says she played Mimi in "Rent" at one point. IMDb.com link

She can be heard as Amanda on the "Bright Lights, Big City" recording.

Truth knew how old she was he just wants to say something i had to have told him 10 times and yet he goes from forum to forum asking the same question.
Eh, what I find hilarious is that, with her being in the show now, Beyonce comes in dead last when it comes to looks and talent in this movie. She isn't the singer that Fantasia is and she damn sure isn't as naturally pretty as Sharon and the other girl is. Ha... I'm surprised Matthew Knowles hasn't asked her to pull out of the production by now. Strong, underrated Black actresses who CAN hold a candle to her? LOL. I know Beyonce is used to Destiny's Child being her and them hoes as back-up but not anymore!
But Beyonce can easily hold her own standing right next to her. The girl ALWAYS knows how to draw attention. It's called "star quality," and she's not lacking it in the least.
All I know is that many people will take notice watching them sing and dance together.

Sharon has a soft harmonizing voice. So she was right for the replacement...she used to sing alot in the "Public Boston" episodes...and she is not the best singer but she can hold a tone.
I ...hate getting into how Beyonce' rules. But, when certain inclusives deny her beauty, her singing ability, her dream, than ...I know they are not worth my reply.
ellenoshalom --- That's a nice way to phrase it. And based on your description of her voice, she's perfect for Michelle vocally as well. The Dreams should sell their songs like soft "purring kittens" suitable to the white audiences of the day. That's really why Effie doesn't fit in here. Curtis doesn't think she can "cross over." That's why Curtis moves Deena up into lead singer, and ultimately replaces Effie altogether with Michelle.
Show biz... it's just show biz.

I left the question mark off b/c I meant it more as a statement. Not a question. I know how old she is.
GhettoBway, we won't even talk about your multitude of sites/screenames, etc.
Jas, Beyonce can definitly hold her own in the talent a beauty department. None of the females can touch her in the beauty department. Talent wise, Deena is not supposed to be a powerhouse vocalist. All the girls have diffrent styles, so it's really not a competition. The Deena vs Effie competition is a no-brainer vocally.
ljay889, I'm glad you pay attention to what I post. I think I've seen your name once or twice...By the way, Dreamgirls is a broadway show that is being turned into a movie possibly featuring several R&B stars.
