A lot of people were criticising Ramin Karimloo's portrayal of the Phantom as Autistic, so I made this for chuckles:

Only not all people with autism have OCD. They're not mutually connected.
Yeah, "Monk" doesn't have Autism...
Next thing you'll know, someone will be calling him retarded...

I don't know about him, but Natalie's definitely got a little something going on...
What does he do in his performance that would make people say he appears autistic?

Sorry to be overly PC, but I find this pretty offense. I think that to call a performace "autistic" is quite ridiculous, and is just as bad as calling a performance "mentally retarded." And I get that you were making fun of it, but there is a huge difference between OCD and Autisim, and neither are things to mock. Anyway, I don't mean to attack you, I'm more upset at whatever critic called him that.
Actually, to be more or less serious for a second, I don't think whoever likened Karimloo's performance of Erik to a person with autism meant it in a mean-spirited way. If I'm not mistaken (haven't really immersed myself in the "phandom" for quite some time) there have been a few discussions among serious fans about whether the Phantom (in any incarnation) might actually have some form of autism. It's not an entirely laughable idea when you consider his social ineptitude, his romantic awkwardness, his incredible artistic gift...when I first read the comment, it simply struck me as an observation that Karimloo's performance just brought those aspects of the character out a little more. That's all.
Karimloo himself has shaped his interpretation of the role with the idea of Erik having Autism. Read any interview he's given on the subject and I'm sure it'll come up. I also recall some more learned people debating if Monk had some sort of high-functioning form of Autism in addition to the OCD, but I'll stop there because I don't watch the show often, and quite frankly I don't care. As for the manip....ehhh.

As a psych student, I'll argue to the death that Erik doesn't have autism.
Yeah, because high-functioning autistics are so well known for their skill in manipulation and deceit. Duh. With such instinctive knowledge of how other people's minds work, it's no stretch at all to imagine an autistic guy having the entire opera house wrapped around his pinky finger.

I'm sorry phantomo88, but this is THE DUMBEST thing I think I have ever seen posted...it's called tact...
At least learn how to resize.
Making fun of autism is really cool, yep. You should feel proud.
He probably only posted it here because he couldn't get into phansonline.net at that very CREATIVE moment.

If you're gonna make fun of autism, try a parody of Rain Man. Definitely Rain Man. Definitely.

Oh don't worry, it's plastered on POL as well. Goody.
I'm taking Abnormal Psych, and that picture does not display autism at all. Whether or not Karimloo shapes his role with the idea of Erik having autism, I find that picture mildly offensive.
Highly offensive. My life's work is with children with autism. This comparison in ignorant and off base. At best, you may be describing someone with very high fuctioning asperger's syndrome, but it's still not accurate.
Only not all people with autism have OCD. They're not mutually connected.
Only the picture doesn't even imply OCD, so your comment is just as uninformed.
The picture has all the utensils/food perfectly lined up. That could suggest OCD.

"Could suggest" is still an inference, not a stated fact. Lining up food isn't mutually connected to OCD, so again, jordangirl's know-it-all commentary wasn't as informed as she would like to think.

Well it seems the only thing suggesting autism (or OCD) in this picture are the utensils being lined up perfectly, so jordangirl's statement was not off-base at all.
