I've spent the better part of the day listening to Saycon Sengbloh's debut disc "Southern Pin-up". I'll admit that I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to learn that she penned the lyrics to the bulk of the titles as well as bankrolled the project under her own imprint. I'm aware of Adam Pascal's and Audra McDonald's discs. Can you guys recommend any titles released by artists known primarily by theatre goers, genre unimportant?
Debbie Gravitte's albums!! urgh SO SO GOOD!
and Kristin Chenoweth of course
Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal as well!
Def pick up Civilian and Model Prisoner (Adam Pascal) and Look Around (Anthony Rapp.) Worth every penny plus more! Also (as said above) Kristin's album and Idina's is awsome. I dont know if Still, I Can't be Still is in stock anymore but I know Here is and its wonderful.

I'll speak for myself and emcee and say Civilian.
Krisin's 'Let Yourself Go' is also very good.
Kristin's is probably the only one I listen to most often. That and all of Liza's stuff of course.

Howard McGillin's "Where Time Stands Still". Dreamy!!
All of Christy Baron's albums (she was Fantine on Broadway a while back) and Randy Graff's wonderful Cy Coleman album. And Liz Callaway's and Sally Mayes' collections.

Rachel York's brand new "Let's Fall in Love" is terrific. She crosses over into Big Band/jazz, singing 12 great standard love songs. Check it out at Barnes & Noble. I love Lauren Kennedy's "Songs of Jason Robert Brown", Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley's duet CDs (especially "Unsuspecting Hearts") and their respective solo CDs.
Debbie Gravitte is a goddess.

Most of the solo recording I know come from Rent cast members, but they have some great stuff.
Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, Idina Menzel
Caren Lyn Manuel
Matt Caplan
Joshua Kobak / Swim
Chad Richardson
Jeremy Kushnier
Cary Shields / Poncho
Karmine Alers
There's a lot of them (definitely forgetting some), & I enjoy them all, for the most part. I think since Rent has such a youthful, rockish type of voice to it a lot of the actors are themselves serious musicians.
I enjoy Kristin Chenoweth's CD because Girl in 14G is hysterical.
I'm very interested in other solo recordings from Broadway actors, so this is a good thread to expand my CD collection.
You can have three guesses. Any takers?
Hmmm....Adam Pascal, Adam Pascal and....*thinks hard* oh what the hell...Adam Pascal! :-P Don't blame ya, gotta love him to death and beyond!
Has anyone heard Daphne Rubin Vega's solo CD? I've been thinking about buying it but I'd love any reviews you might have.

Haha already have. Am now in love with the CDs. :-P *wishes for Adam to make a new CD*
I'm sorry. You have to wait at least four years. :-P
Damn! Ah well, Civilian, Model Prisoner and the new RENT recording that will be out around Christmas time I guess should hold me over. :-P Can never get too much of Adam!
Bernadette's R&H CD
Daphne Rubin Vega's unreleased CD is the greatest
