I love entrances and entrance applause.
Rose, Desiree, Sally (at least in the current revival)...

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I must say the classic Norma Desmond entrance is pretty spectacular, with her coming down the staircase, saying "You there, why are you so late?" I was drawn in when I saw it.
I also loved Desiree's entrance (both actresses) in the revival of Night Music.
And I love, love, love Mrs. Wilkinson.

Carol Channing's 'hidden' entrance in HELLO, DOLLY!
Norma Desmond's in SUNSET BLVD.
All the principal's in WOMEN ON THE VERGE (they run on separately during the "Madrid" number)
