Wow, massive rewrites at last night's performance. I guess Sondheim gave them his feedback. The two new songs sound like they're his. The addition of the dream ballet "rumble" seemed a little derivative but I was so there for it. It will no doubt divide audiences but I hope they keep it in.
Also, I asked how they are allowed to continue performances given the restrictions. Apparently, due to the audience's heavy drug use, everyone is seeing a slightly different show so they are claiming 1,200 performances for an audience of 1 are going on each night. Obviously Telecharge can't handle sales in that way but I bought at the box office and noticed my ticket was for Flying O'er Sunset and my partner's was Flyin' Over Sunset. Very creative move from this talented group!
Caught this again last night after taking the LSD they handed out in the lobby. Can't remember much except for Patti and Bernadette making out in the Stonewall restroom. I woke up in Harlem around 6am, sharing a tent with a homeless man. My playbill got crinkled :/

Question for those in the know: I had my first flashback today, eerily similar to BenElliott’s (my Playbill was unscathed, thankfully). Will I be charged again for this as a separate performance, or is this included in the original ticket price?
Yes, you’ll need to pay. Unfortunately, based on increased demand, they’ve raised ticket prices so you’ll need to pay more for your second “trip” to the show. Also, if your flashback was from a better seat you’ll need to factor that in too.
Got a text from my friend who's an usher at the Beaumont last night. All of the ushers had to stay late to put inserts in the programs because Sophia Anna Caruso was fired from the show. Something about some fight

What?! I posted earlier about lifetime free flashbacks. Did they rescind that offer after everything shut down? I think there may be a legal case for price gouging during a crisis. But really, even if I have to pay again, it's worth it. Anyone who can make it out to see it, it's worth the trip.

I found their policy on this:
"Any changes to the original show, including cast, content, venue, time, dimension, ethereal plane, etc are deemed to be at the discretion of the original ticket holder's brain chemistry. LCT is not liable or responsible for such changes and no refunds or exchanges will be given."

Of all the people here, nobody noticed when they turned out all the lights and then brought out a camera and reprised "Pore Jud is Daid" revival-style with Reeve Carney and the ghost of Johnny Cash (who I think was played by Ethan Slater, cause of course he has that range)?

I must’ve been distracted by the huge upstage video screen. I’m not sure how they stop the rain (have me mentioned the rain), all those giant lava lamps, and the screen from electrocuting the performers.
Ok went to the matinee today and they've made a major addition: there's now random snippets of jail interviews with the Manson girls where they talk about the effects of acid tripping on the Helter Skelter murders. As someone who enjoyed the lighthearted tone of the show I did not like this addition at all -- it seemed weird to go from a Tony Yazbeck dance number to Susan Atkins talking about murdering Sharon Tate.

Please tell me the underscoring was "Unworthy of Your Love" from Assassins...

No. Just footage of Susan Atkins. Also Barbara Hoyt. They played footage from this interview where she talked about the Manson girls lacing her burger with acid:

Okay, so yes it was a weird transition that needs some work, but... OMG that tap dancing number was amazing! I think it alone would warrant the Tony for choreography. I'm not the biggest fan of tap numbers in modern shows but this works so well. It was such a great blend of character and story building on to of just being dazzling to watch. It looked like he was floating at times but still hitting each tap so cleanly. People go to Beetlejuice and Moulin Rouge just for the sets and they should go to this for that tap number. WOW X 1000!

it was impressive I’ve never seen a male performer especially one so...um...impressive...tap dance in the nude. I was in the front row. I thought he was going to put my eye out
The latest: Quention Tarantino threatens to sue James Lapine for "theft of ideas." Tarantino claims that Lapine asked for a script of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" when that film was shooting and Tarantino is shocked that some cut bits are now making their way into the show via the Manson girls framing device. Lapine declined to comment for this article but a spokesperson for the show said "Previews are a creatively fluid period in which ideas are tested out. There was no intentional theft of copyright and we respect Quentin Tarantino's creative genius."
So ... the Manson girls framing device might be gone by Tuesday.
