ebonics - there will be no singing along... at least not by me
Fredi, is it neccessary to have a degree in Acting or Musical theater while you are auditioning. I am at Ithaca College right now, and I've changed my area of study from Acting to English because I wasn't really digging the program and people who taught it here, but I am planning on going to grad school for acting. Was this a bad move?
oooo Fredi i've never heard it described that way - not being judged being considered - i'm usually such an optomist but i've never been able to put that spin on auditons - that helps soo much - i feel kinda better now!!! thanks for the advice

rentheads like the tradition of the $20 lotto because it's what they can afford. it's true, most of those who were teenagers in 1996 are older and can probably afford full price tickets, but not many can EVER afford a $1000 ticket.
i have this image in my head of these well-to-do people who are there to witness history. opening night was history and those who attented are proud to announce it. this will be similar. the audience may have some rentheads, but definitely not the majority, which i don't think it right. the true fans should be those who attend.

Hehe, I took one of my friends to see the movie. He's a total punk rocker with tatoos and a mohawk. He loved it. He keeps singing Tango: Maureen, and he wants to see the movie again. I love how versatile the material is. There's really something for everyone.
I can't wait for the lotto. I livein CA, and I don't have $1,000 for a ticket. College will do that to you :)
Fredi--what theater do you think we'd go to if we all went? And would it be on the weekend..just curious.
Fredi.
You NEED to audition for SISTER ACT: The Musical.
After reading about Alan Menken working on the stage adaption of the show and how it's going to be a gospel score, I thought immediately of you for Delores.
I don't know if you're looking to do it, but it premiers in Pasadena and I know you would be brilliant in it.
Gravity, where in Cali if you dont mind me asking?
(Not) threadjacking:
I'm in the final cut of three for Sarah.
::hyperventilates::
And now I promise I'll shut up about this.

I have been gunning for a Sister Act Musical for years. And to be honest, Fredi, if you were in it, I'd die a little from happiness.

a degree? to be an actor?
you're kidding right?
i know Julliard, Yale and whatnot are all trendy and everything...
but no - NOBODY cares if you graduated from high school...
as long as you've got the chops, fit the suit and are legal to work....

has anyone ever heard the theory / concept that RENT (the show) IS the actual movie that Mark filmed? That the play onstage is like watching the movie?

True. Dat. I'm not exactly sure if there is a point to get a degree in Musical Theater. Sure, you get great trainiing, but you if you really have it, is it necessary?
ntg - okay you answered as i was posting but congrats

Oh, thank God you said that. People have been telling me all different things. Of course the teachers want me to stay in the program, my mother does not. But I'm glad you said that.

thats weird to think about..but i guess its sorta true.
That was kinda what the old Chbosky screenplay was. And I still really wish they'd filmed it.
