Anyone else see Adam's MUTE poster in the loft?
Yeah, his idea. Mute posters everywhere.
People were talking a bit at first, but by Another Day, it was completely silent until the credits, except for a few EYE-DINA fangirls who cheered after TMOLM. (I heard them say EYE-DINA, they were 3 seats down from me.)
My friend who saw the movie, said that "Will I?" was very touching in the movie, and that she just bawled during it (and all of the people she went with also) because she so connected with the lyrics.
That really touched me, because I have always loved "Will I?"

It was definitely silent the whole movie... which is something foreign to me because in Fairfield County, people are ALWAYS on their cell phones during movies.
But during the funeral and then the last scene, even the popcorn bags and soda cups were silent. Practically nobody moved.

All right, well, I'm off to bed. Great talking to everyone!
Fredi- thank you so much for taking your time to answer our questions. I know I had a lot of fun and I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Fredi,
Just wanted to say Hi and thank you for taking the time, but I do have one question...
I once heard Raul Espaeza tell the story of the entire Rent OBC coming to see "Tick, Tick, Boom!" Could you explain what that experience was like for you?
Thank you again for stopping by to talk.

But I have to say, excluding the fact that the cast is amazing beyond words, I like the stage version better, though. I feel like a stronger connection is made between actors and audience than in any other show, you know?

fizz - you sound like you'll make it...
that's what it takes - complete, blind, determination...
Shubbie:
no need to justify things that made instant sense. i only really work on the ones that need justification (like who paid for the protest set?) some stuff you just gotta do - you'll go insane trying to justify it....
Laura2 - thanks for the update...
I teach elementary school vocal music...that's my "real job"...LOL
but then I also have about 8 voice students, all of whom are heavily involved with their high school drama department, which presents very high quality high school theater...(was almost their music director for their spring show..but that's a whole different story...LOL)
I'm in Bethlehem, PA..about an hour north of Philly...an hour and a half out of NYC
(And yes...the way Anthony phrases "In that little town of Bethlehem" line on the movie soundtrack it sound like they're talking about this town..LOL)
I'd love to have information about your master classes and programs if you're willing to come to PA. I'm sure the high school drama director, who's a good friend of mine, would be interested. Thanks!
Going to say goodnight to y'all. (Or better yet good morning!) Thanks for sharing Fredi.

Fredikins--please e-mail me about master classing. I DEFINATELY have something for you.
I think that's a problem I've picked up in acting class. They've added a real focus on being specific and I'm going crazy trying to pick objectives and backstories.
Yeah, I think I'm off to bed too.
Thanks for talking with us, Fredi! It means so much to be able to speak with you. Hopefully you'll be back on soon!
Night, everyone!

I got teary-eyed when Seasons of Love started.
Cried when Roger came to Life Support.
Cried when Angel passed away.
Cried at Angel's funeral. [Especially when Collins sings the "I'll Cover You reprise"]
Cried when Roger sang "Your Eyes". I have emotional attachment to that song, it's always been a favorite.
This is the thing: RENT was the first movie EVER that I cried at. Most people will cry at some movies, this is my first. I think it also had to do with it just being RENT, and knowing everyhting about the backstory. It was also so beautifully told that I don't really understand how you can't cry. My friends are genuinely astonished that I cried, and now want to go see the movie that made me cry.
Love, JKor

So if so many people are going to bed, does this mean I'll actually be able to read quick enough to catch up with everything going on in the thread? hahaha

Thanks Fredi!
Come back soon, k?
Time for me to get some sleep.
Oh God, during the I'll Cover You reprise, the sound in my theatre kept going out - it'd switch to one speaker. COMPLETELY ruined the moment. I was so angry.

Whenever I'm going through a rough time I put this song on and turn my headphones up so loud they drown out everything else, I have a really strong connection with it too, and couldn't stop crying during this scene. I love how RENT is such a personal emotional experience but at the same time you can't wait to bring friends and share it with them, its such a great balance.

Cages...
i'm afraid he was mistaken... i was not there. i wasn't even in the country at that time.
Goodnight to all who are going to bed - i will be going soon myself...
I will be back on for certain next Wednesday night...after that, possibly not for awhile.
hope to "hear" you all then
well thanks a bunch Fredi for taking the time to answer our questions and whatnot, hope you have a splendid evening and it was so nice getting to know so much about you :) Updated On: 11/26/05 at 12:45 AM

:) Thanks. Its nice to hear after my mom's constant lectures about how I need a fallback and my dad telling her to leave me alone already.
I love doing master classes and lectures...
Do you love it enough to come out to Chicago? :p I go to a performing arts academy in my school district, kinda like a magnet school but we have regular classes with the rest of the non-academy students, and we're always looking for people to do master classes.

That song was particularily hard for me, because the day I took my dog to put him to sleep, my RENT soundtrack was in the car and when I got back into it, trying to hold my composure, that song came on and I broke down. Then on Wednesday I was listening to my soundtrack, Will I? was playing... and I passed the animal hospital. Figures, huh?
