lol literally no one wants Beanie as Fanny. Good luck selling tickets if this is the actual casting. People aren't going to flock to see Funny Girl without a big name attached.

Are there any great videos showcasing Beanie’s voice? I loved her in Dolly and I love her film work, but I’ve never been like “wow, voice.”

Agreed. Most people don't know what it's about anyways, they are just familiar with a few songs. Why can't the fantastic Idina Menzel star in this again? Is there an age concern? She would sell the thing out.

Editor of BWW liked this tweet. I feel like Beanie is pretty much confirmed casting at this rate.

Hasn't she ruled out revivals in the past?

Idina? I don't know. I hope not.

I know nothing about the Nick character but he was stunning in Phantom and Les Miserables. He is also very handsome and can sing beautifully. So, I ain't mad.
I'm surprised they aren't star casting Nick since the acting and singing requirements are minimal. I'm not a massive RK fan and even I think he would be wasted in that part!

If this is a transfer of the West End production then Beanies casting makes some sense, she shares similarities with Sheridan Smiths physicality, it was far from Barbras version of Fanny.
Ramin as Nick makes sense in looks but he would be wasted and wouldn't sell enough tickets with a relative unknown as Fanny too. Nick is an ideal role to stunt cast.

I *stan* Ari, but wow that would be a mess.
I heard from a reputable source that she wanted to do Wicked on Broadway for a limited stint, but would only do it if she could alternate playing Elphaba and Glinda. Girl, you couldn’t even play Penny Pingleton believably.

That remains to be seen but so audacious for you to attempt to speak for everyone.

Amazed by all the anti-Beanie messages. I think she’s always been wonderful in everything she’s done. However, she’s not my idea of Fanny Brice.
I really hope it’s not the London production you’re getting. That was a cheap mess.

I've seen a Youtube video or two of her in a vocal concert and was surprised at the rich voice coming from her. It remains to be seen. Amazingly how many were saying the same thing about Lauren Ambrose before My Fair Lady opened.

With all of the bashing of Ben Platt's age in concern for the film of Evan Hansen I would say a 30 year or so age gap before Idina and Fanny for the first half of the musical would be a big stretch. Someone said she would be a contender for Rose Brice and at 50 that is closer for sure.

True, Nick sings very little in the show. They could cast a big star who isn't known as a singer. Or there might be songs written for Nick that were cut before opening that could be reinserted.

Agreed. I would have no interest in that production.

That brings back memories of seeing Pia Zadora and Adrian Zmed in Funny Girl on the West Coast years ago. Indescribable!

That person was asking a question, not being an authority for anything/anyone.
And, considering Lauren Ambrose is a trained opera singer which was public knowledge, I doubt anyone questioned whether she could sing the part. Which she did so beautifully.
I love that you waste so much space answering every question separately. Oh, and that video? With horrible sound, more than a decade old and her singing with other people?? Hahaha. My answer is still true, you just failed to understand what I was saying.
There is no video that exists that proves she can handle the score of Funny Girl. Because she cannot. But, enjoy the show!

The Nick character is very thinly written. He is mostly to be handsome so she can say, "Hello Gorgeous" when she sees him the first time. He has main songs- I Want to Be Seen With You" a duet with Fanny. In Act Two his solo of You are Woman was also made into a duet with Fanny. I remember him having a short verse of something in his last seen but it might be cut. I had the complete score but sold it recently.
One of the big issues with Nick is that the actual Nick Arnstein was alive in 1964 and would not let them show him in a bad light. Even though he was a gambler turned conman who went to prison. There were something like 33 versions of the final scene and I read that opening night they got a rewrite they had to learn.
Now that the real Nick is gone I wonder if they'd have more freedom in the writing of his character. Then again a spring opening doesn't allow a lot of time for revisions.

Nick is a terrible role to stunt cast because it's a boring role with very little to do. No doubt they already tried to get a bigger name for Nick but settled on Ramin. (Just as Beanie probably wasn't the team's first choice...few shows get their first choices...)
