In that list of Jackie Hoffman's ad libs, why does almost every single one of them have to do with stepping over someone? Where does she do that in the show?
Jackie ad-libbed when she was coming from the back of the house, through the audience, for the finale.
She cracks me up!

WITCHES OF EASTWICK (London): during the flying sequence the three ladies ad-libbed a lot. My favorite was Joanna Riding's "NO PEEPING!!!!" when she was flying over the orchestra seats - because you couldn't not to look up her skirt/dress when she was flying over you.
"God, there's a lot. But my fave, from Wicked actually, are JLT and Idina's chocolate and cheese, and JLT and Shoshana's bucket thingy. Classic moments that will always be remembered (by me, at least). "
Could you explain these? I dont think I've heard them.
In WICKED durring "Popular" JLT was craking up becuase the bit with the wand struck her funny that night or something. Meanwhile, Idina's sitting on the bed trying so hard not to laugh! Then Idina goes, "Do you want me to try?" and JLT snaps back, "No! I can do it all by myself!" it was hilarious. After that they lost it! hehehehehe
I also like JLT and Idina's Chocolate & Cheese thing too!
Elphaba always says, "Do you want me to try?"
OH boy, I feel really stupid now!! geez!
basically the funny part was the two of them laughing! i'm such an idot! but they just cracked up! they lost it!
I cannot rememebr any off the top of my head but both Nathan and Whoopi had hysterical ad libs in '...FORUM'.

Okay, okay. Mine is from Wicked, too!
I saw the OBC last year, and during Popular when Glinda does her jump in the air and flutter kick-skip whatchamacallit, Cheno only did one. After that one, she said "Oh forget it!" It doesn't sound funny reading it, but it was hysterical in the theatre.
The night I saw Spamalot, after the minute or so of gibberish as the Knight of Ni, Hank added, "So come up to the lab -- and see what's on the slab!" And of course, being Hank Azaria, he was able to make his voice sound exactly like Tim Curry's.
That may have made me die laughing.
I saw the Producers twice, and Nathan Lane broke character each time---and covered it so well! He made the break seem like part of the character! That's the best thing about live theater---every show is different!!

When I saw The Producers with Nathan and Matthew, right after the "Conga" scene, Matthew could not for the life of him get the boa to stay on the coatrack. The poor thing tried like 5 times but everytime he walked away it would fall again. Nathan was just starting his "It's tough being a Broadway producer..." looked back at Matthew and added "you need to know how to work a boa!" It was great.
During the same show, he went "CLEAR!" and put the phone to his chest, pretending to shock himself, after Matthew asked "How much money do we put in?" I've heard he did this a few times, but it's hilarious nonetheless.
He also threw one of the rejected scripts over the set's wall which was just funny - I've never seen anyone do that before.
During my last trip to the show, last Friday, Richard Kind was Max and during the "Intermission!" part of Betrayed went, "You know they were saving this cell for Michael Jackson." The audience went wild!

During the Frogs with Nathan Lane and Roger Bart, Nathan is wearing the Herakles lion outfit and the adjustment to keep it on his head breaks. The entire scene, he's holding it up and meanwhile trying to lift the club with his hand to "accidentally" hit one of the Amazon women, but totally missed the timing. He's cracking up, Roger Bart is cracking up, the Amazon woman keeps the straight face, "you were trying to hit me, right?" she asks to try to segue back into her line. She leaves. The lion head falls off. Lane puts it back on him and Roger Bart says, "Oh god, it's just one of those days."
After, they make a joke about Buffalo or something and nobody really laughs, and Nathan Lane says to Roger Bart, "Oh, but that, that they don't find funny!"
Eh, my memory's failing.
Again, from Wicked. When I saw it Mothers Day in Chicago, Kendra's (Galinda) shoe fell off during "What is this feeling?" and Steph cracked. You could tell she was trying to keep it in, but Kendra was basicly taunting her with it. And at the end of the song instead of saying "Boo!" she said "Shoe." I think some people got it in the audience...I did.

When I saw the Producers last year with Brad Oscar and Roger Bart, Brad threw his jacket at the sofa in his office in one of the opening scenes and, by a fluke, actually landed on the coat hook on the wall! They did a double take, cracked up, and the audience applauded while Oscar took a bow!
Two of my favorites.
Closing performance of Damn Yankees with Jerry Lewis on broadway. The actor playing young Joe tells Applegate about how he has agreed to work the charity function and Applegate(Lewis) went off on a tirade and ended with the phrase "....and you know how much I hate charity!!!" He and Young Joe and the audience just lost it.
During the end of The Producers all of the signs light up to show the productions Max and Leo go on to produce and this night they weren't working. After awhile of nothing lighting up Lane turned to the audience and said "We're supposed to be looking at a bunch of signs right now" Hilarious.
Mine is from Cabaret... John Stamous was having mike problems and was adjusting it and said soemthing to the effect of "This is the spider and you see how easily it can get caught in my web yah"...... it was hilarious...and sexy

Roger Bart's had some great ones as Leo in The Producers - when I saw it June of last year, he started cracking up at his own joke - "I'm not going into the toilet, I'm going into show business!". Adorableness. He's had others, but that's the one that stands out at the moment.
When I saw The Frogs, Burke Moses started cracking up during one of his lines in "Dress Big". He was holding onto Nathan and the lion skin - I believe that was the genesis of Nathan's add-in of "Watch the nipples!". Priceless.
Hank's had this tendency of inserting whatever he wants into the "Ecky-Ecky" line, hasn't he? He said something like, "It's only a biscuit!" when I saw it.

Oh Roger did that giggle after the "toilet" line when I saw it too! He is so cute! He also got stuck on the sofa after Ulla's audition, so his butt was facing the audience and he was stradling the arm of the sofa. It was hilarious - the other time I saw it he made it all the way over.

Yeah, that's another one of my favorites with Roger. He's such a doll, and the quintessential Leo Bloom...my friend told me of another thing he did - he stuttered on "...CPA. A certified, public...*opening the mouth repeatedly, fighting between wanting to say it and not* - ASSHOLE!".
Love him.

Oh just thinking about his performance makes me want to drive the 3 hours back up to NY to see him again... twice was not enough! I. love. him.
Sorry, ending the threadjacking now!

Hugh Jackman crossed the fourth wall all the time in THE BOY FROM OZ - huge amounts of time were spent during the audience interaction portion of the show, notably BICOASTAL - which kept the audience rapt and thoroughly entertained. So lengthy that sometimes he pretends to forget his lines and where he was in the scene.
Most unforgettable -- on the last show ( everyone knew that he no longer wanted to renew his contract, leading to the show's closing), when he was given a standing ovation as he opened the first scene, playing the piano. As the crowds cheered and applauded - he looked to the crew at the wings and exclaimed " That's it - we're extending !! "....Pandemonium!
Not necessarily funny but very memorable for me -- after being "coerced" into dancing the bump and grind literally under the spotlight during the BICOASTAL scene, Hugh beckoned to my friend and I to come nearer to where he was slumped on the edge of the stage with "Kiss, kiss - girls?"...We flew - in one second flat!
