I saw the London "remounting" cast when they played Toronto, and I don't know if I could have disliked this more. I will say that I will give the proshot a watch, to see if maybe a different cast changes things, but glad to hear it is being welcomed back to NY

Yesterday was the full show and then a long break while they reset the cameras to focus on the audience and do some pickup shots from different segments of songs, where audience would be seen. So with all of the stopping and starting and resetting of that second part of the day, that’s what made it that long. "
Yes, I don't see why this was questioned. I liked the sparing use of the on stage view in Hamilton, but it was overused in Come from Away, and from what I've heard, this one is even moreso than that one.

I just won the lottery for the 3rd time to see this show - worth nothing that each time I won on my first entry.
Looking forward to another special evening at the Belasco.
Do we know who will be the distributor of the proshot? Is it a streaming service or will it be out in theatres?

Same! It is a mysterious show. But isn't that like Dylan's music?

I am so sorry but I don’t know how to put spoiler content. I spent a few minutes googling too, can anyone help? I’ll skip several lines, if you don’t want to know about a plot point, stop reading now!!!
I was curious too so I googled it and someone wrote a whole paper on it and it was fascinating. She is meant to be the Virgin Mary, you got it! There’s a no room at the inn joke towards the beginning of the show. Her name is Marianne (Mary) , and the non-father of her baby love is Joe(seph). The doctor mentions in the second act at the party that he thinks Marianne may be having a hysterical pregnancy and may not even be pregnant at all, which aligns with her supernatural conception story (like Mary’s). The person who wrote this paper also mentioned that the timeline said by the doctor leaves room for Joe and Marianne to have had a real child in the meantime. Lastly, apparently the author calls it his nativity play! I think the whole thing is so genius. There’s more theories out there too, like she lost a pregnancy and Has Anyone Seen My Love? Is really about her baby, and her hysterical pregnancy is caused by her grief. This show is so layered, I love how much room they leave for speculation.
SPOILER END. I will edit if I figure it out! Sorry again!

We do not.
I’m so glad to see the show being loved on this thread, because most of the people I’ve discussed it with previously didn’t like it because they didn’t understand the plot (which to be fair, after a handful of times watching it I’m only really just starting to put it together). I think it’s haziness has made it difficult for people to realize you don’t need to understand it, you can just enjoy the gorgeous piece of theatre

I ran into Tom Nelis tonight as we were both leaving the Assassins benefit concert. I told him that I loved GFTNC and that I had gone for the 4th time this past weekend. After I told him that, he pulled me in and hugged me! We chatted briefly afterward. It was a lovely conversation and I'm so glad I was able to congratulate him and the show on the day of the Tony nominations.
I’ve been a Bob Dylan fan since I was 16 (40 now) but was so resistant to see this. On a whim, I saw it last week and was in tears throughout (almost as much as I was at ITW&hellip Dylan’s music, as is often the case since the beginning of his career, was made something much more accessible and still remained penetrating.
I was so happy to see the Tony love thrown at this and I would not be at all disappointed if Mare Winningham walks off with the Tony (Sharon is going to win next year, right?). An effervescent musical and when I describe it to friends who know theater, I mention Once, another great musical that seamlessly blended music and book.
Im thinking this will be my day-of Tony’s show.
I have a feeling that Mare will win a Tony.
Saw this last week and cannot sing it’s praises enough! Just such a truly lovely evening at the theater, my first time in the Belasco as well!
Additionally, for some reason I just can’t get the idea of either Annie Golden or Cass Morgan as Elizabeth out of my head, and would absolutely love to see either do the tour!
Mare Winningham is a master class in this show. I wasn't prepared for what she is doing on that stage. I think she could take the Tony.
I adored this show, but I fully understand why others may not. It hit me at just the right place emotionally. My mom had dementia, so Mare broke me wide open. So many similarities.
The singing in this show is among the most beautiful I have ever heard. I also felt that the final scene and song are among the most moving I have ever seen in a theatre. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
It seems like inexpensive good seats are pretty easy to come by, so I encourage folks to check it out, if even for the singing alone. It's just so gorgeous.

I saw this over the weekend and echo the posters here that I too find my emotional reactions to many moments to be quite mysterious and can't pin them down. Mare's Rolling Stone had me close to audible sobs and just speaks to the power of how the music is used in this piece. I hope that's the performance on Tony Sunday.
I'm so glad it had the opportunity to return to Broadway to give a proper ending to what is really a glorious show.
I saw this show a few weekends ago when the Governor took to the stage before the show to welcome audiences back and comment on the resilience of Broadway. What a treat!! Mare Winningham is insanely talented and I pray she wins the 2022 Tony Award for her work. I'm heading back this weekend and am keeping my fingers crossed for a lottery win, but am glad in a bittersweet way that there are reasonably priced tickets available.
More details on the filming. Interesting that they don't have a streaming contract lined up (yet) for this.

While not the worst thing I have ever seen, this show is pretty bad and the numbers back that up. There are some good moments and music, but I would have rather seen a more focused play or just a Bob Dylan based concert. I won rush for this and was bored. I can't imagine paying a lot more for this.

Art is subjective and you're entitled to your opinion, but the critical consensus is against your proclamation that this is bad just because you didn't like it. And, as most people on this board know, there are many "bad" shows that have been very successful by the numbers and there have been incredible, good and great shows that have failed to break through in numbers (Passing Strange, Caroline Or Change, the list goes on). You can dislike a show all you want, but historical context is important and your argument as to what you deem as indicating a bad show based only on your experience seeing it and revenue numbers is just not factual.

Agreed. Bored me to tears at the Public and on Broadway.
Saw this tonight - wow!! Admittedly it took me a bit to get into but once it got me, I was in it. Such talent from the entire cast. Love how they all seemed to get a moment where they commanded the stage. And everyone brought it.
Mare was out and I’m sad I missed what sounds like a Tony worthy performance but swing Jennifer Blood was great.
I’ve seen almost every jute box music of the past decade (mom loves them) so was not expecting this to be so good. Love how they intertwined the songs - it was almost like when a movie scene plays a song that fits the mood and the lyrics kind of apply but not directly. But it wasn’t Momma Mia or Moulin Rouge style where they still sing the songs “at” each other in character (which is worse to me than the biographical style of jute box musical). Very creative and emotionally hard hitting. Well done.
I can understand where folks can find this dreary and slow. It’s not for everyone. I’m just happy someone finally used an artist’s catalog to make a beautiful piece instead of the same old empty calorie “looks here’s that song you know - isn’t this fun?!”

Has Mare Winningham returned to the show yet?

I walked by the theatre to get my rush ticket and nobody was on the understudy board not too long ago. Take that for what it’s worth

I saw the matinee last Wednesday and Mare was out. A bit disappointed to not see the performance everyone is raving about but less so when I found out Jennifer Blood would be on instead. I had seen Jennifer before, might have been Matilda, and I thought she was great. She didn't disappoint in this role either. She was excellent.

Mare was at the matinee today 6/8 according to my friend.
