Sing Street is also apparently circling a Shubert house. Could be an option to fill one of the many open Shubert houses, especially if A Strange Loop moves from the Lyceum where it was originally supposed to play.
Belasco has 75 more seats, but it's more desirable because of its renovation. All things considered it would basically be a lateral move for a show that isn't poised to do gangbusters –– not the situation of EVAN HANSEN moving from the Belasco to the Music Box when SHUFFLE closed.
The only real option for the show if they are looking to downsize would be the Golden, unless they want to shuffle FOR COLORED GIRLS there and put it in the Booth.
It could also benefit from foot traffic sales being right in the heart of Broadway as opposed to “east of Broadway - E-Bra”
The Broadhurst is a good theatre but the problem is that they would have an increase in seats. Granted, there is no crappy balcony to contend with and their mezzanine is pretty nice.

The fact that they want to move theatres, and aren't announcing something makes me wonder if it comes back. I know it probably wants to, especially with the praise for Mare Winningham for Tony Award season. But, who knows?

Stick a fork in Girl from the North Country; it's done. It probably ain't coming back.
Considering the producer, general manager, and theatre owner all had statements in the press release, I am believing that the show comes back. If we hear nothing by late March, I will assume it's done and not returning. But for now this seems real enough, despite the not-great business since the beginning of the run.

HANGMEN is not returning to Broadway.
If GIRL isn't going to play the Golden or Broadhurst, then they must be waiting for an existing show to announce closing this spring –– Come From Away, Chicago, Company, DEH (in order of likelihood).

Hangmen IS returning to broadway actually. And it has the golden.
I was at the Girl's closing, and Winningham's speech specifically promised a return. No maybe or "we hope"; she was definite. I tend to see it as persuasive evidence, since she's the highest profile performer, who will be placing her career in other mediums on hold to remain available.
Hangman's return is not in print anywhere. If it can be sourced, perhaps the poster should do so. Not OT: I saw a preview of Hangman, and it was stunning. One of the saddest of the many sad closings.

Can confirm that Hangmen is very much returning this spring for Tony season, and has the Golden. It's not anywhere in print because the team is not making an announcement yet. One should be coming next month though
North Country is hoping to reopen in time for Tony voting. So that would rule out the Golden entirely.
TaffyDavenport said: "I remember some speculation last summer about Hangmen's return, when it received an SVOG of $3.5 million."
It would seem that if they planned to re-open, they would have received closer to the full $10M in SVOG, like the other shows. $3.5M would barely cover their losses due to the early closing, leaving nothing for a relaunch.
Until I see it in writing, I have serious doubts about HANGMEN’s return.
My skepticism is heavily predicated on that fact, for a Spring opening, they would’ve likely announced something by now. I know this isn’t normal times, but putting it up now with little notice is risking it getting lost in this years April shuffle with 13 other shows opening.
If they were smart, they would wait until fall and take the Golden after GFTNC will likely close (barring a miracle) after reopening.

I truly think this will reopen. It’s got a heavy hitter playwright, legendary musician and a past with The Public attached. It has Tony possibilities all over it. Mare has had so much Tony talk, I think they really want to remount it. Sometimes it’s not about sales, it’s about artistic merit. Lots of people in the industry have worked with Mare and she’s known for her hard and humble work ethic. Maybe they want her to have this moment.
If Slave Play which has closed can get a revival, then surely this deserves one.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
By my count I think there's Broadhurst, Imperial, and Shubert (and Golden). Imperial seems to be where Cinderella is heading but if it's not coming til fall, it could be open for GFTNC, and I don't think I've heard any rumors about the Broadhurst yet?
Broadhurst, Golden (pending Hangmen returning), Imperial, and Shubert are vacant. Size wise only the Broadhurst and the Golden make sense. Another option is the Cort, but that may still be under renovation? Ditto for the Palace.
It's also possible something currently running is closing soon and Girl From the Country is waiting for that announcement.
The Hangman return would be welcome - it’s a brilliant production - but has a complex design with hydrolic changes. It’s not a small one set piece. And I’m curious if the full original company from two continents could be reunited. And why wait to release word of the prospect? It didn’t have a big advance and I’m curious why they’d presume it would grab one now. I saw a Saturday night preview on TDF and got three seats eighth row center. Perhaps wiser business heads see an opening but have non musicals fared well this challenging relaunch? I’ve been 11 times and never paid full price.
