Are there any updates on if/when/where this is being released?

I keep wondering about this one as well.

I wonder if this is suffering from the same issue that Waitress had? I think the Weisslers assumed they'd be able to sell it to one of the streamers and no one was interested.
It's unusual that NORTH COUNTRY has both a 'proshot' (filmed in 2022) and a feature film in development simultaneously.
For the feature film, there hasn't been a peep for more than a year now, so perhaps we just assume it's dead until we hear otherwise. They're at the mercy of Woody Harrelson, Olivia Colman, and Chloe Bailey's schedules.
I just got an email that this will play in cinemas in UK & Ireland this November.

It's possible this project might've been affected by last year's Hollywood strikes.

I don't remember which interview exactly, but Olivia was asked about "Girl from the North Country" back in March while she was promoting "Wicked Little Letters." At the time, she said she didn't know the status of the film, although she hoped it would work out. So I'm guessing it's been delayed indefinitely or scrapped altogether.

Ohhhh I hope that means we will see it here in the States sometime!
Keep an eye on Great Performances next season…
Well hopefully since it’s getting that UK theatrical release this Fall, we see it over here in some form around then.

I believe a Come From Away film was in development until it was silently scrapped after the proshot was released on AppleTV.
Any updates about the film adaptation that was announced last year?
Last night, I caught PBS' broadcast of Girl From the North Country. Just as A Complete Unknown this past year gave us the origin of Bob Dylan, they just gave us a Broadway musical that includes his songs. I felt the way they were used to reflect the mood came across very effectively. Thus, this feels more like a poignant play with music as opposed to a musical. Conor McPherson not only successfully pulls that off as writer, but he also accomplishes a lot as director. The design aspect may be minimal, but everything still looks quite elegant. Not to mention that everyone in the cast gets their own opportunities to shine, with each of them providing such emotionally honest work. I was moved by the whole thing from beginning to end.
This was so beautiful. I missed it on Broadway and honestly thought it wouldn’t be my thing but I quite liked it. Excellent performances.
Why does it seem like this show is so polarising, with many finding it beautiful and profound while others saying it's boring and unbearable?

I love this musical (and I am not a fan of Bob Dylan's music). It is a beautiful "score" but a really sad book that I am sure puts people off.
Mare Winningham's performance is so delicate and beautiful that every time that she starts singing I start crying.
BTW, it is a beautiful recording of the musical. Thanks.
Winningham’s performance, exquisite in the Belasco, gains something mysterious via the close camera. The light behind her eyes during “Rolling Stone” holds the heartbreaking secrets of life. Hers is a singular portrait.
