I hate guys and dolls. Hate it with a passion. I was in it and couldn't stand it. I'd love, however, to see Eric McCormack as Sky. Then I'd actually go.
Ellen Greene or Cyndi Lauper as Adelaide would do it for me.

YES!!! Ellen Greene, YES!!! Please!
she really does need to come back to Broadway and this role would be perfect for her!

Ellen Greene WOULD be fantastic - but I'd be excited for Messing too!

LyTeMyCanDyI - I was the same way. I saw a horrible local production of the show and hated it. I wrote it off as just a "bad show" that has a "classic" sound that I just didn't like. But the other day I was surfing around on youtube and came across a scene from the London production, and now I'm hooked. I don't normally get into dance breaks, but that was breathtaking. It made me want to go learn how to dance. This is def. on my list of things to see next year when i'm NY. And if Patrick Wilson signs on, it'll be even higher.

Eric McCormack as Sky
Denis O'Hare as Nathan
Anneliese Van Der Pol as Sarah
Cyndi Lauper as Adelaide
Michael McGrath as Nicely Nicely Johnson
No to O'Hare as Nathan. He's just going to play it the same exact way he played Oscar in Sweet Charity and Guiteau in Assassins, or you know, the same exact way he played every other role he's ever done.
Claire Sweeney for Miss Adelaide. She was BRILLIANT as the character in both London & the UK Tour :)
Sky: Harry Connick Jr. or Marc Kudisch
Sarah: Kelli O'Hara (only if Harry is Sky) or Laura Benanti
Nathan: Norbert Leo Butz or Marc Kudisch
Adelaide: Jane Krakowski or Emily Skinner
"Anneliese Van Der Pol as Sarah"
^I like that idea

Kelli O'Hara is doing South Pacific.
Butz would be a good Nathan
Emily Skinner has serious weight/health issues.
Claire Sweeney was fantastic here in the London Production and tour as was Samantha Janus but i dont see either of them getting offered the broadway version
Does anyone else think Orfeh would be a good Adelaide? I have only listened to a few LB songs, but I kind of see her as being right for the role. (I know she won't leave LB so soon to do this but it'd be a good fit.)
I actually think that would be pretty great.
Michael Berresse as Sky or Gavin Creel as Nicely-Nicely, anyone? (Probably not, but whatever.)
I love Michael Berresse.
I think he'd be good.

I actually think Eric McCormack would make a perfect Sky, and Norbert Leo Butz would make an ideal Nathan Detroit.
But from what I hear, only the former is grounded in any actual reality or likelihood of it happening... the latter is wishful thinking, esp with his new tv show.
As for the ladies, I actually think Christine Ebersole would make a fantastic Adelaide (a toned down version of Edie, without the psychosis) but thats not happening anytime soon- neither is Jane Krakowski either. I bet they bring over the British one.
As for the rumor that a former Aida is being courted to play Sarah- i cant imagine this is Simone or Heather or any of the pop stars who came after... but I do think Maya Days would sing a really gorgeous Sarah Brown, albeit she doesnt look the part at ALL to me.
i actually loved guys and dolls when i saw the revival with Nathan Lane and faith prince (i was like 12 years old!) and i hope they get it right again this time.
Like you said, it'll never happen, but Ebersole would be freakin' funny as Adelaide.
she's played the role-that was awhile back.
I wish I could've seen that one.
me too-it was awhile back, as I said
u guys will probably hav like Patrick Swayze as Nathan. Sally Ann Triplett was the best Adelaide in the production! Yeah, Jane was great but I still thought she was too young for the role. I LOVE her but Sally Ann was just perfect for the role... brought so much matureness to the role!
I wud DIE to see Eric/Harry play Sky!
