So Michael Cervantes is NOT the Hamilton alternate right?
Congrats to Brandon. I really thought it would have been Josh Henry.
Makes me very curious about the Chicago cast, especially since I have tickets.

Miguel Cervantes is not listed in the press release at all. He must be going to Chicago. Michael Luwoye is the new alternate/standby.
Two things I still want to know:
1) Which weekly performance is Javi not doing?
2) Who will be Burr in the interim between July 11 and whenever Brandon (congrats, btw!) takes over in August? Sydney Harcourt?

Wondering the same thing. Have tickets for matinee on 7/20 and hoping to see Javier.
Super excited to see Brandon in this! He was great in Shuffle Along and I think this role will fit his charm like a glove. Looks like I need to get tickets for the next round!

As an Asian woman myself, I was really hoping they'd keep one of the leads Asian to include us in the diversity of the show. However, these are still fantastic choices.

Agreed. I've heard Sydney is great, so if we get him and Javier I'm sure it will be fantastic!

Yep, Sydney to continue in the role until post-Shuffle/whenever Brandon is trained up.

ivskow, if that's the case then why didn't they put that in the release? Seems strange.

But do you actually know that or are you making a big hunch?

Yeah maybe in Chicago some Asian people are cast. Hopefully.
Happy for Michael Luwoye! He was excellent in Invisible Thread.

you think it is strange that a press release did not mention that an understudy will perform in the interval between when one principal leaves and the replacement starts?

Huh. I really thought Cervantes was coming, He's a great young performer. That being said, I have NO issues with Dixon and Michael Luwoye!
If Harcourt is performing in the interim, the show is in excellent shape. I saw him and Chappelle last night as Lafayette/Jefferson and all I can say is wow. A really big wow.

As much as I love the OBC, I'm excited about the replacements and can't wait to hear how they interpret the roles. I too thought Joshua Henry would have KILLED (no pun intended) as Burr but the thought of BVD is intriguing. After seeing him in Shuffle, I think he certainly has the charm and charisma to pull it off. I don't know much about Lexi, but since Phillipa Soo was my least favorite original cast member, I'm curious to see if the role of Eliza can be elevated even more.
The only role I think might suffer (just a little) in the future is Layfayette/Jefferson. There is something so intangible and irreplaceable that Daveed Diggs brings to the role.
Hogan, they were exceptionally transparent about the dates during which Javi would perform in Lin's place over the past year. I concur with Neon that it's strange that they're not being as overt out of the gate with this turnover.

FlySkyHigh, I saw Alysha perform as Eliza in the winter and she was better than Phillipa. So it can certainly be done. :)

It certainly could be a mix of the people in the ensemble or swings who already know the track covering in the interim, although Sydney is the primary u/s. Wouldn't that move be expected?

Any guesses on how long Renee and Daveed will stick around?
