Argh.... I had ticket for June 26th. Was really looking forward to this. This is the second casualty of my upcoming trip. I also had a ticket to Gary.
I’m now starting to worry on WTCMTM.
Guess I have some time slots to fill.
Maybe INK?

Constitution is doing fine, nothing to worry about.

I admire Rudin's commitment to Metcalf. Few other producers would have the actor's next show lined up when they're so consistently proven to mean nothing at the box office –– especially without a major costar. (Lithgow means a lot more than Eddie Izzard, though Lith's as overexposed as Metcalf.)

I mean Constitution is not TKAM but it's still selling really well considering the other play this season. The grossings for Gary and HaC have been abysmal, while Constitution has been getting better as the weeks have gone on. Plus the extension is a good sign it's going well (as it could have ended by now if it wasn't selling so well).

Yes, Constitution was supposed to close June 9 but has extended twice.
On another note, this is the third straight week a Rudin production will close early after Lear and Gary.

Isn't Constitution supposed to move to West Coast soo for another production there? Surely it can't extend for much longer.

If you're referring to the already announced run at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, that doesn't start until mid January.

Posted: 6/17/19 at 2:10pmI might go this week, might just skip it though. I like Lithgow a lot but I have absolutely no interest in this show.

There's no there there. Metcalf has some scraps to chew on, but Lithgow has essentially nothing to work with.

I simply ADORED this show and I’m sorry to see it go early. I loved how these incredible actors and the play itself were able to capture the duality of the Clinton persona: all of the charm and no failing to highlight the disgust.
I’ll reminder this as one of the high points of an exceptional Broadway season for straight plays.

This and Gary were such disappointments to me. My partner liked Hilary and found things to admire in Gary, especially Mr. Lane, but I thought these two shows were going to be so big and exciting when first announced. It was a struggle for me to get through Gary and I usually love Lane, Nielsen and White. The same goes for Metcalf and Lithgow. After Three Tall Women and Doll's House- Part 2, Hilary was a let down.

It's a thin play, but Metcalf, Lithgow, and Mantello made it a production worth seeing. In a weaker year for plays it could've gotten a few more nominations.

Funny...Gary was another highlight for me this season ![]()
In fairness, I skipped Lear and the Ferryman having seen both in London (the Lear being a different production with Jackson), but even if I hadn’t, I still think these two would have been my highlights.
Such a great season and cheers to both!
