oh, my...... well, see you on broadway in a month or so then. Sounds like your on the fast track to broadway stardom. will you sign my playbill once your in the show?
"I'm an American, Damnit!!! And if it's three things I don't believe in, it's quitting and math."
You are in college and want your first role to be Bert in Mary Poppins? Hahaha...despite the age problem, have you ever looked at the careers of Broadway stars? Very few of them had their first roles on Broadway as leads...good luck however. Pretty sure Gavin Lee is still happy with his job, though.
At least YOU seem to know you are amazing...

ok, no offense but number 1, you are getting school leads which is what, 50 ppl at the most auditioning??? second, you are never going to work if all you are willing to do is leads...you may be good at school, but the real world has about 500 + auditioning for the same role as you, where as now you only have 50 maybe against you. Lose the ego trip
>> I only want to do leads since I'm so good at it.... >> is the $1500 that you wrote...is that for chorus?
It's $1,509 a week . . . yeah, for chorus; after you work at it Off Off Broadway and Off Broadway for twenty years. Get a reality check, babe!
>> I don't want to do chorus...I don't do it now...so, I don't >> want to go backwards in my career.
Then, stay exactly where you are . . .a big fish in a little pond. And start you're own community theatre, right where you are, and give yourself every role you ever wanted!
>> I only want to do leads on Broadway.
The words "real life" come to mind. Let us know when you arrive in NYC and get picked up by a "producer" at Port Authority and start doing your porn films . . . er, I mean . . .leads on Broadway. You'll be the hottest 'thing' on 9th Avenue and 42nd Street [behind Port Authority]!
Now, as I am a positive person . . . sweety. And I enjoyed my sarcastic remark (so I'll leave it). You must know, by now, it takes a bit more than just a statement. Acting/Singing also takes team work, cooperation, flexibility and willingness [which means you do chorus, co-star, bit parts or leads] to do what you must to get to the ultimate goal of starring on Broadway or playing only lead roles. And also, either you love acting/singing or you love "fame" or "attention".
This is not a career for those seeking fast money or "just fame" and "attention". If you want that . . .try politics or Hedge Funds. Better chance there.
It's Broadway...do you honestly think that the other 499 people trying out for the role you want (that is assuming Disney wants a new Bert, which they don't, and Gavin doesn't want to leave right now, so you are out of luck there) aren't also great actors? You don't last long around Broadway if you aren't at least good enough for lead in a high school production...do you realize how competitive it is to get ANY role on Broadway, let alone a lead?
Mmmm, sorry but you're all being terribly negative. Ssfun will not only be making more than chorus minimum (please, he has played numerous leads by now, remember he has been doing this since *gasp* high school), he'll probably make around the same salary that Nathan Lane got for stepping into THE PRODUCERS when it opened on the West End. Ssfun, don't let this Debbie-downers bring you down. I see great things in your future. You'll be the next Bert. Who is this Gavin Lee person anyways? I believe he was just doing college leads when he got the role.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Wow, just wow. A new favorite thread.... But on a serious side a small bit of advice, go to Williamstown and learn the ropes
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

"You are right...there will be more people auditioning for Broadway than a high school or college musical. But I have done some good parts and that speaks for itself. I am sure that the Broadway casting directors will notice that."
LOL. I once worked for a casting director, and was asked to review headshot resumes for invites to audition for an upcoming show. The main requirement? No one who was the big diva of their High School, Communtiy Theater, or College productions. ALL had to have professional experience to even be considered.

"Well, with that kind of talent I figured the Mayor would be waiting for me at Port Authority. Wrong!"

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
