The whole cast was absolutely flawless in the theater, but this is the second TV appearance where the vocals sounded wobbly. This seems to happen a lot in these media performances…is it simply the audio setups and/or how well they can hear themselves?

I thought it was me- the vocals were definitely off for this, especially compared to the impeccable sound at the Sondheim.
They did a painfully bad number when they first opened on some late night show, but this was WAY better. That said, did they leave Betsy Wolfe's mic way up from her intro? Bc someone's voice sounded way too loud and out of whack, drowning out the lead? Sounded off.

How did they play it differently? Less smart aleky?
Somebody in the comments on YouTube said this just looks like Glee, which is hard to disagree with.
I don't regret seeing this show. Betsey Wolfe was fun. But at the same time I really started to get tired of the show as it went on & kind of wished it would just wrap up quicker.
The only mics that were on were Juliet, April, and Romeo, so it was awkward when it was ensemble moments and you heard them singing their harmonies. It wasn’t mixed like it is in the theatre.
Funny, I've seen both Gage and Walker and really liked both, didn't noticed that much difference on their approaches to the characters. I would say tho that Gage is a better actor overall.
IT IS HAPPENING - Courtney singing with Clarkson on her talk show tomorrow afternoon! Apparently this is why Rachel went on for Juliet a couple days last week, so Courtney could fly down to LA and film.
I'm seeing this again in a couple of weeks courtesy of some Audience Rewards points. Betsy Wolfe was out when I saw this last November, so I am REALLY hoping she is on when I go back.

I've seen the show multiple times, both with and without Wolfe. As lovely as Tiernan Tunnicliffe is, I think Wolfe is delivering an absolutely pitch-perfect performance that redefines the show. She milks the comedy and sings the hell out of it. I'm glad you're going back and hopefully she will be on when you see it again!

Yeah they totally should have chosen a different song from the show to sing with Kelly Clarkson"
This comment made me laugh out loud, but isnt the point that since they were doing Since U Been Gone with CLarkson they could and should have done somethign else for Seth Meyers?

In spite of the fact that the show is titled "& Juliet"- this show belongs to Betsy Wolfe. She is its heart and soul, and exhibits pure joy whenever she is on stage. I know everyone says Bonnie Milligan is the one to beat for Best Featured Actress, but I would love to see Betsy get it.

Television booking doesn’t always work like that. It very likely that the Clarkson show didn’t fall into place until long after the plan was set for Late Night.
This message board is probably the only place in the world where people would make this specific criticism; and having so many press bookings that you need to repeat songs is a problem any show would like to have
Hey hey! Quick question, I've seen &Juliet 2x and really really enjoy it. I was looking to take a friend tomorrow or Thursday night. Are there any announced absences coming up for any of the cast? Thanks in advance!
How did you become involved in & Juliet and where did the writing process begin for you? Outside of Shakespeare's play was there any other research you had to do to bring this story to life?
In January 2016, I was asked if I wanted to come up with a concept for a new musical based on the catalogue of Max Martin. I'd recently concussed myself on a kitchen cabinet, so I was lying in the dark, with a playlist of Max's music keeping me company, and I started circling around the themes of young love and heartbreak. It felt like, if we were going to reinvent and repurpose Max's music, it would be fun to also reinterpret a classic story, which led me to Romeo & Juliet. I re-read the play, and other Shakespeare comedies and tragedies (no histories, thank you), as well as a few Shakespeare biographies, which are both fascinating and maddening since no one can agree on anything. I also went to see Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, and Taylor Swift concerts, which were the highlights of my research (and life?).
This is the & Juliet I'd like to see. Didn't see this reference posted anywhere but thought it was amusing.
"And it had been up to me I could have changed the course of history I could have prevented many a famous tragedy With a laugh and a smile and a song For every night i lay in bed my cheeks, my cheeks grow soaking wet When i think of what i could have done For romeo and juliet Hello verona phone Oh yes mister romeo Juliet capulet called The message is: To aviod getting married to other fellow and playing dead This friar lawrence gave me a great big sleeping Pill, but when i wake up we'll head for the boarder Oh, don't thank me! it's all in a days work See what i could have done Maybe i'm right maybe i'm wrong But if i got that message through on time i'm telling you Those two kids would be alive today!"
With the awards season coming to an end with the Tonys next Sunday, and given what the show has/has not won, I couldn't help but wonder...did I give the show too much credit? Could it not win many awards on June 11th?
