This announcement, although not unexpected, is very sad. I was lucky enough to see JEJ in many of his Broadway appearances. He was a brilliant actor and THAT VOICE! RIP sir.
I was fortunate enough to have attended the 2017 Tony Awards, the year he received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Not only that, but I also saw him outside Radio City Music Hall earlier in the day while rehearsal was going on.
A true cultural icon. What an incredible life and career.

Oof.
I only got to see him 2x on Bway, but was a huge fan of his work. I found him mesmerizing.
May his memory be a blessing.

A legend, truly. Honored to have seen him in DRIVING MISS DAISY (on my first trip to New York City), THE BEST MAN, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, and THE GIN GAME. Remarkable.
(BWW editors: Can you also please correct the obituary you have posted for him? He did not most recently star as Willy Loman in DEATH OF A SALESMAN...)

I've always held the belief that these are 3 minutes of the finest acting ever filmed.
An absolute legend.
Remember who you are…
May the force always be with him.

A magnificent actor. I had the pleasure of seeing him in FENCES on Broadway back in the 1980s. May the Force be with him.

You’re thinking of Bustopher.

Can't you go be an insensitive idiot someplace else?
CoffeeBreak said: "Missed the memo. A lot of Jones. Glad he has a theater. Field of Dreams is a great movie."
The name of the theatre is the James Earl Jones Theatre, so, no, not "a lot of Jones."

Yes."
Thanks Sutton. Thanks for the kind and helpful response.
Got to see him twice onstage. Saw him in "Robeson" back in 1978 in Philadelphia at the, now gone, Locust Street Theater. A great night at the theater. I sat in front of Charles Nelson Reilly, who directed the play, and we talked about the show for a half hour after. I then sat second row center for "The Gin Game" on Broadway. A dream come true seeing he and Ms. Tyson together onstage.
He is a legend and will be missed. Rest in Peace.
