Evita is one of my all time favorite shows. This production sounds really cool - I'd love to see this come over to Broadway sooner rather than later!

It is a joke that everything has rumors/plans but after the Tony’s (with Nicole. Sarah, Jak and Sunset repeating) + Sunset’s success, I think this would make sense. The production sounds terrific.
There’s also a rumor of an LCT Showboat."
How about the Music Box

HUDSON
The Hudson's windows don't have balconies, though. They're also not floor to ceiling, they're about waist-height on the wall in that room.

Do you guys think this going extend through October?
I’m going to London the first week of October to see a bunch of shows
I don't think they can, there are other bookings.
RE: Jamie Lloyd. Isn't everything schtick tbh? Especially the further along a career goes and the personal imagination begins to shape an idea of what a creatives style is. As stated above most name directors have a style. As much as i appreciate directors who can make a "straightforward" production exciting, you're rarely going to get to name director status if that's your thing. Does it really matter if enough people find it affecting?
Fosse is probably the most beloved and remembered Broadway choreographers in the world and yet Michael Bennett and Donna McKechnie pulled Tommy Tune into their orbit by asking him if he really wanted to do those "old fashioned" moves or work with them on things they considered actually exciting. Everything eventually becomes passe!
I'm reminded of Colored Lights where the writer asks Kander & Ebb about their history of writing "dark" material and them saying something along the lines of "*well, that's not all we wrote that just all people remember"
*although they did acknowledge that "darker" material often brought something different out of them.

Jamie Lloyd shtick has ticked me off more than a few times and I think hes way overrated. His A Dolls House "reveal" that half the audience couldnt see....outrageous.
Still his finished products are at times impressive--Sunset Blvd was fun, if not silly--and I am sure EVITA will be plenty entertaining. I will 100% see it when it inevitably transfers and everyone loses their mind over Zegler's Tony chances.
BUT even his biggest fan MUST be honest enough to roll their eyes that he has ANOTHER male lead take their bows slick wet in tight black look-at-me underwear. Its almost comical!

It's odd that you are this annoyed by Jamie Lloyd but still plan to attend his Evita.
The August Wilson actually has the greatest resemblance to the Casa Rosada! (not that the team is looking for a 1:1 comparison)
Plus at 1,275 seats, the Wilson is an ideal size (about 500 fewer seats than the St. James).

Exactly!
People have styles. Fosse is a great example. And K&E (and also that folks don’t notice when they don’t do their style). I make the joke about Casey Nicholaw always doing tapping numbers. It’s OK! It’s called a style. Presumably, when Disney hired Casey to redo Hercules, they wanted his traditional style.
If you don’t like a style, don’t go see it. Or sure, feel free and criticize it. But no point in acting like because you can discern a style, that somehow you know something they don’t know

I'm not sure we're able to be honest with ourselves anymore if his biggest fan is saying streamers or confetti, which was also used in Sunset Blvd., is as show stopping as a chandelier.

I’m a big fan, but also just saw a picture from the curtain call and can admit this is a hilarious signature move.

As long as you remember that Tom Francis was the SECOND guy to take his bows like this, this is how Lloyd did it in 2019.

Hey, a good idea is a good idea!
Didn’t say it wasn’t. Just saying the history of Lloyd shows ending either way men in underwear is “Evita”, “Sunset” and then new “Evita”.
At least Diego has the luxury of being inside.
The poor guy at the Open Air Theatre had to lay there in his underwear, covered in paint, cold, wet and quite often in the rain.

Its very telling that youd think for even a second that i would NOT see a show, and not form my own judgment, just because I can call a spade a spade re the Jamie Lloyd shtick. Says alot about you, not me, kinda thing.

I cannot wait to see this. Fingers crossed it comes to NYC or maybe worth a cheap flight to London???
As they are saying over at the starlight express revival ‘it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when’. At this point, the main thing that would stop a revival in my opinion is NYC theatre availability and Rachel’s commitment to the show. The sales for Evita are much higher than Sunsets were at this time in London. The early reaction has been almost universally positive (albeit we are all fans at the first preview, let’s face it). I would expect this to be in NYC in the next season or two.

The moment is also made for a large group of spectators who gather in front of the balcony. The London Palladium is located on a quiet side street where only traffic comes that has to be at the theater and the few surrounding buildings. In New York it would have to be a theater that is not on one of the major streets. For the safety of the spectators.

I can’t see this using any outdoor part of the Beaumont. The roof is about 8 stories off the ground and that’s the only place that’s anything like a balcony. Unless they’re meaning the internal lobby balcony, but there’s not a hint of the architecture or “outdoors” that the moment calls for. And there’d be zero crowd.
Realistically it’s just the Kerr. Both the St James and Majestic are too close to 8th Avenue and all its craziness/sirens/motorbikes. The moment would be ruined throughout. At least the Kerr is a bit more sheltered and is far from the frenetic energy of the mid-40 streets.
