An odd one, there is a minor 'streamer gate' issue that has been happening for several performances where they seem to have run out of streamers for the cannons at the end of Act One. Have they literally just run out??
God, I hate streamers or anything that explodes onto the audience. What an ugly trend, I hope it goes away very soon.

Who are “these people” you cite? I am definitely not one of them and I am pretty sure I am not alone.

Amen.
While we aren't in Trump territory yet, the political landscape here isn't exactly hunky-dory. Yet, EVITA is the biggest hit London has seen in ages.
The show will no doubt transfer and be as divisive on Bway as it has been here but will also likely replicate it's incredible success, especially if they have Rachel Zegler in tow.
The failure of TAMMY FAYE had zero to do with politics (whatever Elton thinks) and everything to do with a horrendous marketing campaign....not to mention the worst choice of theatre for a mid-sized show.
I think the better comparison is Cabaret. A show that was warmly received and has continued a successful run in London and hated over here. Evita New York is a disaster in waiting.

A disaster? I doubt it.
A massive hit like London? I wouldn't wager a lot on this.
A popular show like Sunset with solid buzz? Seems reasonably likely.

There are several individuals on this board who like to post sweeping generalizations such as this, as if they speak for everyone.
They released "Rainbow High", which sounds like it's from the soundboard (though high quality). There is nothing 'wrong' with it, the vocals are the vocals, but there is something odd to me because it sounds like it's being sung in a studio apartment or something and you don't really get the aural effect of hearing the instruments and vocals bellow throughout the theatre. Not sure what it is, but doesn't work as well as Nicole's recording of Sunset (maybe this is what happens if you don't install the extra microphones in the theatre they did for the Sunset recording).

The mix seems off in the ‘Rainbow High’ single. Rachel Zegler sounds fine, but the drums and rhythm section are pretty quiet.
A new highlights West End cast album of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s EVITA has been announced.
As Jamie Lloyd’s critically acclaimed production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s EVITA starring Rachel Zegler concludes its sold out run at The London Palladium, it is announced that a new cast album will be released.
The 10-track album will be released on The Other Songs label, and includes: Oh What A Circus, Buenos Aires, I’d be Surprisingly Good for You, Another Suitcase in Another Hall, A New Argentina, Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, High Flying Adored, Rainbow High, And The Money Kept Rollin In (And Out) and You Must Love Me.
The album will be available digitally, on white and blue marble vinyl and CD. Release date to be announced.
This recording of the critically acclaimed production of EVITA, directed by multiple Olivier Award and Tony Award winner Jamie Lloyd, was captured live at The London Palladium in summer 2025, featuring Rachel Zegler, Diego Andres Rodriguez, James Olivas, Aaron Lee Lambert and Bella Brown.
Don’t Cry For Me Argentina performed by Rachel Zegler, was the first track to be unveiled from the new recording, reaching number 1 on the Official UK Vinyl Singles Chart on three occasions.
The album is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jamie Lloyd, Adam Fisher and Alan Williams. Executive Producers are Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
EVITA has lyrics by Tim Rice, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
God really feels like everything is being done on the cheap haha.
Rachel Zegler featuring the cast of Glee.
So much for a double vinyl.

So many theatre albums are terrible these days. They started getting bad in the mid 2000s. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is the last one I really remember being well-produced. There may be more recent ones I’m forgetting.

Seriously?! Just 10 tracks, and we don’t even get Goodnight and Thank You or Waltz for Eva and Che? I would like a word with whoever is making these decisions.
10 tracks? Thanks? I guess.

I bet they'll release the other songs to complete the score during the Broadway run -- maybe Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
just a thought, or a hunch...

My feeling is that it's all being done to give the consumers what they want in the quickest way possible, even if that means going on the cheap, or a guitar player whose schedule didn't align, or not as much studio time, whatever the case may be, especially before the show closes. I'm sure they were lucky to get this out on the last "new music release day" before the closing. Plus, it wasn't given the same 7" vinyl treament that DCFMA had which means they probably were not anticipating this so early or at all... the only reason this song specifically blew up was because of TikTok and social media leaking footage from the show, so they're giving us an official thing.
This latest single was recorded in a studio and it appears this highlights album was recorded live during a performance, which probably takes longer to master and produce, which could be why we are getting only some tracks and not the whole thing because people want something sooner rather than later and the whole transfer is rumored to be up in the air. I agree with theatrejunkie007 that they may end up working on a completed album to release if the show decides or is able to transfer. Remember that huge gap of time we had between the Sunset album announcement and its actual release? It was announced in May 2024, and in August they announced their October release date. Reminded me of when we waited just as long, if not longer, for the Sunday album with Jake and Annaleigh. haha.
Sorry for my Friday spew of words and thoughts no one asked for! haha.
Eek I assumed the quality wasn’t even high enough to be a studio recording. Are we sure? It even sounds like to me there is a note towards the end of the song that isn’t 100% quite on pitch to me which I would always expect to be fixed (star-quaLEEEEE to me is not quite right)tyyyy.
Maybe makes sense why it all sounds flat if they’ve quickly rushed to a studio somewhere to record and release.

Yes that note is flat and she’s significantly flat throughout the song.
The mixing on this Rainbow High makes the Australian cast recording of Barnum sound like a Thomas Z. Sheppard masterpiece.
Even though the full show was presumably recorded when they captured these live tracks, I do not anticipate a complete album release in the future. This seems like an attempt at a more pop type album for a pop princess style production. I can imagine it being difficult to master a live album of this specific production since the listener would likely hear audience laughter during Santa Evita and Diego’s screams at the end of Waltz For Eva and Che, and not understand what is happening without the visuals. They would have had to re-record those sections if they didn’t want them on the album. This highlights album is likely just a rush job to get “something” out, but I personally won’t be paying 20 bucks for 10 tracks. As with Starlight Express, the same record label is likely just going to put out this highlights album and nothing else which is a real shame. I’m happy to be proven wrong, but it just seems like the goal of this album is to get more songs to chart or get more engagement on TikTok and not to provide a complete audio theatrical experience like the Sunset Blvd. album.
Add me to the list of those who hate the mix.
She’s way too far forward. It sounds like an unmixed demo.
My understanding from the UK Message Board is that the "highlights" album was indeed recorded "live at the Palladium" but it was not in front of a live audience or during a performance. The orchestra was recorded on one day and the cast on another day.

Just one clarification - the album was announced in March of 2024 for the October release. Which really kind of lost the momentum I think they were hoping for. At least with this, there was a single release today to go along with the announcement. Hopefully if/when it comes to NY a full recording will coincide with that.
