Jennifer Lopez's production company will adapt R&H musicals for the screen

ennifer Lopez, Skydance Entertainment, and Concord Theatricals have entered into a deal to produce musical theatre projects for the screen!

Concord's catalog includes all work from Rodgers & Hammerstein's repertoire, according to The Hollywood Reporter. One of the projects in the works is a TV series adaptation of Oklahoma.

Under the deal, Lopez will star in at least one of the screen adaptations.

"Musicals were a part of the tapestry of my childhood," Lopez said. "We're so excited to begin our association with Skydance and Concord in reinterpreting some of the most classic musicals and bringing them to life in new ways for a new generation."

Not just doing their shows, but all shows where the rights are owned by the organization.

Definitely a misleading title since the organization is their names.

Keep in mind, Concord also owns all of the Tams-Witmark titles, all of the Lloyd Webber musicals, and a LOT of recent titles. Based on what's here, maybe her NBC live production of "Bye Bye Birdie" might happen. My dream would be a film adaptation of "Kiss of the Spider Woman"!

I think she'd make a great Spider-Woman. She's got the right appeal - and I don't know the score totally, but Chita isn't really a "powerhouse" singer, so I'd assume they could make J Lo work with it?

I'm betting it's BIRDIE, since she was already attached to it. But we'll see.

As for the OKLAHOMA series, this has already been announced. It's a contemporary-set story, written by The Blind Side’s John Lee Hancock and This is Us's Bekah Brunstetter.

Is it just the Rodgers and Hammerstein stuff she's involved with or is it everything that Concord has its hands on?

I think Vanessa's keys would be a hair too high for her, but for any major adaption, they'll probably just tailor the keys to her range.
