So far it is only AMC theaters, that are 30-50 miles away from the city of Atlanta itself, where the most queer cinema patrons live. Perhaps the arthouse cinemas aren't as automated yet, and will host the film on opening day. Currently it's only scheduled at AMC's in redneck-ville. We shall see!"
Yeah I was trying to be diplomatic, but I'm seeing the same. It's not playing in urban markets where more of the queer audiences are. And strangely, tens of miles away. It's a bizarre strategy...

Well, at least for Atlanta, now I am noticing other theaters listing the film. Maybe the AMC and Regal's contract for their films weeks out, and more independent ones a bit closer in. I bet more logical theaters will show up soon. It's showing in the spot I wished for, where the audience will be.
Autotune takes me right out of movie musicals, especially if they are drama. Stuff like Mamma Mia gets a pass because its fluff. I don't think Lopez can sing and she certainly can't hit or sustain a high note. If her high notes are all blurred and blended she will lose me. She was recently quoted as saying she has more of a voice for Broadway because she grew up singing showtunes around the house. I can't even respond to that. She can't sign on key or on pitch live.
I really like Kiss and I look forward to seeing what she delivers. I'm not expecting much. Other than from their publicity machine, I'm not hearing any buzz.
Cory is still trying to locate the note for her. It’s nowhere to be found.
You know she's really working to promote this show. She's doing Howard Stern soon, and they haven't been on the best of terms since the 90s.

The comments on that Instagram reel are beyond epic. They’re a Michelin rated 8 course meal.
You gays are exceptionally cruel, but who would expect any less from you miserable and hateful bitches. You can’t even stand yourselves let alone anyone else.
Par for the course around these parts.

It is a verifiable fact that Jlo can basically just hold a tune. She is not a Singer. Should we call up Ashanti, Christina Milian, or any of her other Ghost Vocalists for comment? She can me made to sound pleasent. It is not being hateful to point out that she is delusional to think she has a theatre voice.

But it's obviously not Hollywood, as Hollywood in the era would not have had movies with 100% Latinos starring.
Anyway, too bad the budget didn't allow for more exciting musical numbers, both visually and choreographically.
This thread took such a sour turn, almost all speculative.
I had two friends see a screening Monday. Both big show queens, one who saw Chita in it, and both raved. For what it’s worth.
The soundtrack has already dropped in Australia, and J.Lo sounds great to me. I’m not super familiar with her music beyond the big hits, but she honestly sounds better than I remember. Tonatiuh’s vocals are also great… I hadn’t heard him before this, and he was a pleasant surprise. Diego Luna sings very little but does a fine job.

It's almost like it's a fantasy sequence or something. I mean, you are familiar with the show, yes?

Do you feel the pressure of the fandom when you’re reviving these classic musicals?
Absolutely. In Dreamgirls, it was a balance. That show was sung-through onstage. It was two hours and 40 minutes. It’s impossible to do in a movie — you need relief. So we had an hour and 45 minutes of that score retained, but there’s a song called “Ain’t No Party,” and people condemn me to this day on chat boards about cutting that. I think many people’s favorite song in Kiss of the Spider Woman is “Dressing Them Up.” It’s not Molina’s “I want” song, but it’s sort of the song that defines him. It’s a beautiful Kander and Ebb song. I tried so hard to figure out how to get it in. He hums it in the movie just as a little Easter egg. But I think there are going to be people who do not forgive the movie for that, and I understand it. And the only thing I’d say to them is if you’re true to the medium you’re working in, and you want to tell this story in that way, you have to throw everything up in the air and, in a way, start over.

Is "Dressing Them Up" really many people's favorite song in Kiss of the Spider Woman? Not even in my top five. I can forgive him for that, I can't forgive him for cutting The Day After That.

More than most shows, love. This is one where the Prince production puts the film to shame when it comes to musical numbers. No electricity, no fear for her, just a bunch of clichés and stereotypes that the stage production is not.
If you think it's a masterpiece, so be it.
