Julie Benko as Fanny Brice: A New Chapter Begins

Just posted by the Forward: "There’s not just one Fanny; there’s a lot of Fannies. The show was able to do well even after Barbra left — it still ran for at least a year and a half with Mimi Hines. So it’s not defined by one performance. It can hold so many different kinds of people." Yay, Julie: You have your head on your shoulders & you're ready to take whatever comes! https://forward.com/culture/theater/512857/julie-benko-is-getting-her-big-break-in-funny-girl-and-shes-not-afraid-of-comparisons/

That mods don't merge threads always surprises me. It is one of the things I love about the theatreboard.co.uk moderators.

"Julie, you have your head on your shoulders..."

Would it be possible for her to have her head located anywhere else?

I realize posting about how great Julie is in these threads has become YOUR job so the more threads about her the better for you. But yeah, there was already a Julie Benko as Fanny Brice thread with 300+ posts which actually you started along with lengthy discussions about her playing Fanny in all the other FG threads and now this person has started two more identical threads in a week seemingly just to publicize her website, blog or whatever the heck she's clearly trying to promote. So yeah, it's clogging up the boards with repetitive, identical threads as if that doesn't happen enough already, and it's not cool.

It's also a disservice to the people here since the whole idea of having a single thread on a topic is to allow everyone to find information on that topic in one place. Not starting a new thread when one on the topic already exists is just generally accepted good discussion board practice on any chat board and as was mentioned earlier in this thread and as I said in last week's identical thread, if there was any moderation, the threads would have been merged instantly. So go on and post your 15 comments about Julie every day and let other people make what was a very valid point.

Loved the article. What I found interesting was this: "Fanny Brice is not Benko’s Broadway debut — that was as an understudy for Cosette in “Les Miserables” in 2014." Julie has worked with Ramin before. Going on for Cosette was her Broadway debut - such a great connection for the two of them.

Yeah. It's fascinating.

Balderdash, Uncle Charlie. If universal laws were broken by the creation of this thread, BWW moderators will handle it. Stop spitting negative energy, dude.

If it was balderdash, the two people above me who also questioned the need for this thread wouldn't have gotten all the thumbs up they got. And the mods here should merge duplicate threads but they never do in case you hadn't noticed. But thanks for the reminder about negative energy. I hope you will remember it as well the next time you lecture someone about what they are and are not allowed to post.

Somebody just used "balderdash" without irony?

Ephie Aardema is still the understudy. Julie will likely be standby for Lea in addition to Thursday night alternate, again with Ephie as u/s. Fingers crossed there won't be a need for anything more.

Julie has no standby. She has an understudy, who plays 2 roles in FUNNY GIRL regularly. Julie is a standby and doesn’t play any role aside from Fanny. Unless she’s needed, Julie isn’t at the theatre unless she’s performing.
