Happy to see the FUNNY GIRL Instagram is FINALLY mentioning Benko on both their IG Stories and regular posts.  All her previous performances went unacknowledged and zero mentioned.  Unless you followed Benko on IG or read this message board you’d have zero idea she was going on for Beanie.

Based on some of the posts on the other thread, she's making all the announcements for them. More pay for Julie! She addressed the rumors about the 6 performance run for Beanie. IMO, they are considering her, otherwise why mention it?

At least they are finally giving her some acknowledgement.

To be fair, shows don’t usually broadcast their standbys/understudies going on that much..

We are in COVID era and numerous shows from THE MUSIC MAN, COMPANY, to PLAZA SUITE mentioned and showcased on social media their standbys/understudies when they went on.  Hence the COVID era trend of showcasing standbys/understudies this season.  Prior to COVID, standbys/understudies went on as expected.  This season their importance in keeping a show going was showcased and still is.  Catch up with the times, Princess Caraboo.

Lea Michele’s handlers would not even inform her IF she was being considered.  This would be the biggest career fiasco accepting to REPLACE anyone, let alone Beanie Feldstein.

Of course you’re allowed to dislike somebody. Adults understand that others are allowed to react to your post without it being a personal attack or refusing you the right to having an opinion.

It's interesting that the show didn't provide a reason.  Is it because the producers don't want egg on their face and admit that they made a big mistake in the casting?

After the PR fiasco she faced during COVID, I think Lea would happily accept any leading role offered to her on Broadway. She has major damage control she needs to eventually face, and Broadway is going to be a lot more welcoming and forgiving than most anywhere else in the industry.

The stories of Michele's behavior as a child perfomer and also in "Spring Awakening" are the stuff of legend!!  Wonder if she could be a team player now, or not start acting up/acting out again.

How is this remotely true? I'm honestly so confused as to how this would be "the biggest career fiasco"... Dare I say her coming out to Funny Girl and absolutely killing it would do her wonders. Do some time with Funny Girl, be a model citizen, and erase the idea that she is a nightmare/show that with age she has grown.

Additionally if Bernadette Peters can replace Catherine Zeta-Jones in A Little Night Music Lea Michele is absolutely someone who can be a replacement. There are plenty of Broadway legends that have replaced folks in roles that they wanted to do, and I don't even consider Lea Michele's star to be THAT level of bright anymore (with her height of fame being SA/GLEE). If she wants to do it she will, if not she won't. If I was the Funny Girl team I would either pair Julie Benko with a star replacement for Lynch or pay Lea Michele what she wants (I mean I would still shoot for a star replacement for Lynch regardless).
