Well, I had a full on review until my phone deleted it :/ So the short version: The show was magnificent. Betsy was a fantastic replacement for Kelli. She was warm, intelligent, classy, and graceful as Anna and the show is just as great with or without Kelli. Love to see people appulad her when she came out. Ruthie was wonderful as Lady Thaing. Mature, stern, graceful, and powerful with a real royal presence. Ken and Ashely were the stars to me. Ashely is a star in the making. I was moved by her more than Ruthie TBH. Her voice is gorgeous and she was very sweet, passionate, and heartbreaking as Tuptim. Ken was perfect as the King. I understood him fine. He was also passionate, and delivered the right confusion and misguidance for The King while delivering sweetness and actually adorableness and childlike excitement. No matter who is starring, the show is a must see!
Urg I feel like there is a high probability she will be out this afternoon. If so I'm going to get a refund. I was really looking forward to seeing it today, too
Yes, please, if anyone finds out if Kelli will be out again today, please post. I'll run up to Lincoln Center to rush. Is there any official way to tell? I'm looking on Twitter and not seeing anything.
You might be able to call LCT once the box office opens? But there wasn't anything posted about her absence online for any of the performances this weekend.
^^^ Good suggestion. I just called the member hotline. The gentleman said, "As far as we know, Kelli O'Hara is performing today." (Today is Sunday.) So, I guess she's back! If anyone finds out information to the contrary, please post!

Since it's not a vacation or preplanned absence, the box office won't know anything until the board gets posted.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Great to her that O'Hara and/or her Tony Award appear to be a little bit of a draw.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Polka, do you know if they were offering rush tickets today? Or were the refunded tickets sold at face value? I'd love to see Betsy when Kelli goes on vacation in a couple of weeks.
I saw the show in May and noticed in the playbill that while Betsy's the standby, Ann Sanders (who is Asian-American) is the understudy.
Although I am a big supporter of colorblind casting, I thought it was a little odd to cast an Asian-American person in a role where race is important to the story (unlike in, say, Next to Normal). Then I read an interview with Kelli in The Interval (http://the-interval.com/ints/ko/) where she states:
"I also read Bombay Anna [by Susan Morgan], which is a newer book about who the real Anna was; she was an absolute tour de force, badass. She was a woman who reinvented herself. She was not British. She was of mixed race, and she was a widow with no options. She grew up outside of India. Her mother was Indian and her father was a solider."
With this knowledge, casting an Asian-American woman such as Ann Sanders (not sure if she is mixed-race) seems to make a little more sense. I'd love to hear if Sanders ever gets to go on; I'm a big fan of hers.
PS: On a similar note, when I saw the show Sam Poon was on for Prince Chulalongkorn. According to the Playbill, Poon also covers Louis Leonowens - I wonder if he goes on with Sanders? Seems unlikely that they would go to that trouble to put on a cover if Jake Lucas was available, but it would definitely be interesting to see an Asian Anna/Louis interacting with the King/Prince.
