Just thought I’d share this gofundme set up to help actress Kristolyn Lloyd fight her eviction.

Sounds like she needs to downsize or get a roomate. She was so wonderful as John Adams in 1776. Saw it twice both times with her.

Seems like a great result in 24 hours.

She’s now at more than twice her goal. It’s started to feel really icky.

Sally & Tom starts previews next week, so I'm sure it's an enormous relief that she'll now be able to take care of this situation and focus on the show.

She's clearly in a tough spot, and these situations can be a nasty cycle. It's very possible that $15k was the amount she needed to get out of debt, and didn't want to ask for more -- but having a cushion to help you get back on your feet can be pivotal too.
More importantly though, the dollar amounts on the campaign are publicly visible. Everyone who has given since then has done so voluntarily despite being fully aware that she's surpassed her goal -- there's no deception or exploitation.
Also, from looking at the donations, it seems to be largely coming from her peers in the industry, so it's not like she's profiting off of fans (although even if she is, all my other comments would apply to them too)

I think some people on this thread are underestimating how absurdly expensive it is to live in New York City nowadays. Also, despite being in the original cast of Dear Evan Hansen, most of her credits are Off-Broadway and regional. Her replacement gig as John Adams in the 1776 revival was also only for a few months, and on a LORT Roundabout contract. Most full-time actors - even ones that are constantly working - who don't have a lucrative side gig are typically living just above the poverty line.

We don't know her situation. And even if she is working some semi-flexible service industry job - as many actors do - that's probably not really enough to live by yourself in a decent NYC apartment. Plus, once you are in debt (as she describes on her Go Fund Me), it can be very hard to climb out of it. Just be nice.

Yes butwhat’s taken this situation below the poverty line? Is ita case of Liked living alone and didn’t get a replacement roommate/Didn’t want to leave the apartment for something affordable/Now needs others to pay for the lifestyle?. If the roommate moved out in early 2021, say, that’s three years of knowing the rent would come due. And there areplenty of places in the city where people live on a lot less. Where is this place, the UWS?
Based on that write-up, less should have been spent on entertaining and more on servicing the debt. But this is 2024 and the age of “I made a mistake, now you fix it.”
West End actors I know would finisha performance and work in a bar until 3am."
I think I'm unable to judge her choices without drawing a bunch of unsubstantiated conclusions about her personal life, income streams, and financial background. What I do know is that it's not easy to ask for help, no one is being forced to donate, and you very rarely regret the times in your life that you were generous to others.

You could also frame it as the age where humans have more compassion for one another in a communal way, and much less of an individualistic "survival of the fittest" mindset.

Or the age when humans are cynical and more skeptical of one another, and don’t want to be taken for a ride.

She owes her landlord "back-pay"? Anyway, I'm sure she would return the favor if one of you were in need, especially now that she is solvent. What a relief!

While comment ‘like’ counts are living rent-free (get it?) in peoples’ heads, the goal amount has been exceeded by 130%… so Flash might not be wrong with their prediction.

I guess we know who that other "liker" is since the goal amount being exceeded has nothing to do whatsoever with any "prediction" or the nasty callousness on display here.
And interesting that my snarky comment apparently got deleted by the moderators' legal counsel, who i remain convinced is a well-meaning golden retriever that has never opened a book in its life (and yes this thread should be locked, but it apparently wont be, as the moderators are actively deleting random posts as they see fit, per usual)

BC/EFA does not, but the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly Actors’ Fund) offers some services. However, their assistance may be too slow or too limited for this situation.

The Actors Fund, AFCU and Actors Equity can help. It can take a bit of time though. Several years ago, I asked The Actors Fund with some help covering medical expenses, and there were several meetings and mountains of paperwork involved before they would even make the decision to take on my particular case, so while they are resources they are not a quick fix.
