Fair, or not?
What is the reasoning behind it?
I find it disrespectful.

As a solo theater goer I naturally hate it.

It's terrible. And, makes absolutely no sense at all.

It is harder to sell a single seat than two, so they would rather take the chance of denying the sale to the solo. I go solo to Broadway so I would not like this if I saw this. Yankee Stadium has this rule I think.

What ticketing service is pulling this crap? Have never seen it before.

Sometimes you can call and get them to sell you a single seat over the phone. I've gotten lucky doing that.

I usually buy singles and have yet to run into this issue. What site is not letting you purchase a single?

I go single most times and can’t remember ever having a problem

99.9% of my theatre visits are solo. I have yet to have an issue

Maybe actual Broadway is exempt.
Telecharge don't seem to do it. Ticketmaster most certainly do.

Ticketmaster or Telecharge used to have this policy which never came back after Covid, so this problem doen't exist anymore. And private businesses don't care about you feeling "disrespected", you can buy your tickets elsewhere if that's the real issue.

Ticketmaster does this. When you have a monopoly you can get away with it.

Ignore Sutton. Ticketmaster still do it.

For what, concerts? Because plenty of people bought singles to The Last 5 Years and that was on Ticketmaster.

Not just concerts. Hamilton in Chicago, to give a hypothetical scenario.
It's still possible to buy single seats, so long as you don't leave a single seat behind.
For clarification.
For fussy people who buy late, it can cause problems.

Damn, babe. You managed to get my last comment to you deleted in record time. Which administrator are you married to?

I bought a single seat for Hamilton in Chicago so my best friend could see Joshua Henry be brilliant just fine. People perhaps should stop being "fussy", if this is still an actual issue on Ticketmaster. But I don't believe any Broadway tickets are sold on Ticketmaster anymore as their main ticketing source.

I still run into that issue on Ticketmaster but thankfully they're not an official theatre source anymore.

I have at times been able to work around this as follows:
1. Open a separate browser and HOLD the 2 seats next to the single seat.
2. Go back to your regularly scheduled browser window and buy the single seat.
Hope this helps someone :)

Genius, mlledir!
Thank you.
EDIT Wait… if there's three seats together and I want one, I wouldn't be leaving a single seat anyway…?

It works if you want a one of a pair or perhaps 3 seats when there are four. Just open a separate browser and click on the unwanted seat Ticketmaster holds that seat for about 10 minutes so you can go and buy the ones you want
