Laura's reaction when she hears that Maria is going to be a nun - priceless.

My heart will be blessed with the Sound of Muzak
They lack chemistry. sigh. She seems much closer to the children's age than his.
^Which she is, and was in real life.
My faith is being restored into Rob Ashford.....somewhat.
What's pissing me off are all the folks on the webz who think this is a remake of the movie version and the movie was the original version.
Carrie is a low key, and not a "varied" actress. She just delivers the lines plain a simple, but there is still a basic sincerity in her approach that keeps me engaged. Her voice is great. I love hearing the songs belted the way Mary Martin did them originally. (No body mics back then, people.)
And the last scene she just did with the captain, right before the kids sang The Sound of Music, actually brought a tear to my eye. Everyone in that scene was good.
As for the others, Audra is just wonderful as the Mother Superior. And Borle and Benanti are terrific. I love hearing their songs. The kids are all good, and I think the sets are great, too.
Overall, I'm just happy that something like this is even being attempted. Is it perfect? Far from it. But it's still entertaining, and there are so many things to enjoy about it.

Yes, please let's keep complaining about a multi-million dollar broadcast exposing the beauty of musical theatre to a brand-new audience on a national stage. God, many of you are too cynical for your own good. We should be supportive of this endeavor while offering constructive criticism; not snarky Bitching.
Kathy - I completely agree. I'm kind of in love with Marta. She is TOO MUCH!

She'll become a woman when Audra tells her to Climb Ev'ry Mountain.
This looks great. Pretty dresses.
I know she's a kid, I'm sorry, but the actress who's Marta is bad. She's trying way too hard to be clear.

Benanti was perfect and Borle was entertaining.
You know The Sound of Music isn't a true story, right?
Yeah, it is.

Jesus Christ. Sutton, are you kidding? It's based on the memoir of the real Maria von Trapp.
Love the costumes.
And the sets.

I LOVE EVERYTHING, Addy. That is all. Thanks.
Reappreciating R&H's music. Genius stuff - love hearing the orchestrations.
It most certainly is. The Von Trapps ended up in Vermont. It's actually a lovely story.

The @CinderellaBway orchestra is playing these gorgeous orchestrations. Rodgers and Hammerstein comes full circle!#TheSoundOfMusicLive
Laura just broke my heart... I shouldn't sympathize with Elsa this much.
Also, the smolder Stephen Moyer made during the dance was hilarious.
Christian Borle just slipped into an Irish accent.
Me, too, LH. Me, too.
It's the Sound of Music. What's not to love?!
