It really blows my mind that it takes him 4 hours (plus his commute to and from the train station) everyday for a 2.5 hour musical. That sounds grueling.
I remember Christopher Sieber saying something about how he lives out in the middle of a lake in secluded NJ and has to take a small boat to get to and from his house during his commute. To me, THAT’s nuts

I'm in Providence RI, where real estate prices and apartment rentals have spiked over the past few years. It's because many people are moving out of the Boston area, and moving an hour away to Providence - where it's more affordable to buy / rent/ live. They are commuting by car or train to their jobs in Boston , and living more financially responsibly and wisely.
I mean, Sieber's place sounds lovely.
Yeah, I'm from the South, so stuff is spread out, but I don't know anyone commuting that far for their jobs, but I'm sure it happens. , but I get the New England area is crammed. Just seems draining having a 2 hour commute then having to perform, as the lead no less, and then a two hour commute home only to do that again and again. Oof.

Yeah. This pretty clearly spells the end of the show. I can not see them reopening

Plus, he’s probably taking Amtrak and not NJ Transit to connect - which is about an 80mins train ride. For context, I live in Central NJ in a town about 15 minutes from Rutgers University and, depending on the day and time, NJ Transit takes about 60 mins to get into the city and I’m about 25 miles outside the city."
Can confirm he takes Amtrak. I;ve been on the same train with him before. PHL (30th St) to NYP in NYC is anywhere from 1 hr 20 - 1 hr 40 not including delays, transfers, or engine failures.

Just saw on Instagram that KJ Hippenstiel is on for Rob tonight. This is the first performance Rob has missed, right?

OMG can't wait to hear reports tonight on both him and Casey Garvin as Stu!
A big reason to reopen is that McClure is the front runner to win a Tony this spring. If the virus settles down and more people will be going to shows, this show will attract tourists and families. I saw it last week and the orchestra section was full of families.

I think Hugh Jackman and the actor who plays the Usher in A Strange Loop will have something to say about that.

Front runner im your household you mean?

I think it’s possible. I’m not hearing much ado about Jackman’s Harold Hill but his celebrity will get him nominated. The Usher in “A Strange Loop” (whoever that may be) may be a slightly stronger competition. If anything, it could end up being like Tracy Letts winning for Virginia Woolf over Tom Hanks, Nathan Lane, and David Hyde Pierce

Jenn Gambatese delivered a speech tonight after KJ's Daniel Hillard / Euphegenia Doubtfire debut. Was anyone there tonight to see him? If so, how was he, and how was Casey as Stu?

The time has really come for this show to do the right thing and release the theatre and let the cast know they are no returning.
The show was good! At least let it run through awards season.
At this point, no news is good news. The show will return on March 15 as has previously been announced, and tickets are on sale from then until November.
Personally, I think Mrs. Doubtfire will permanently close in mid-August before the kids go back to school... but we shall see how things transpire.
I will both assume that (A) they are returning, and (B) they are not selling many tickets for the return dates. I doubt many shows are selling for late March/April/beyond right now, especially if they aren't advertising heavily.
The show will now return a month later than originally planned, on April 14, and the box office is once again open.

Jake Ryan Flynn, Avery Sell, Sam Middleton, and Addison Takefman will not be returning when the show re-opens. Titus Landegger and Tyler Wladis are sharing the role of Christopher; Austin Elle Fisher and Ava Gail Prince are sharing the role of Natalie. They've also hired a new swing, Renée Reid.

I hope this works out for them truly, it just seems like it won't. They are banking on huge tourism in Spring and Summer. Without it, this show will be done. But for real this time.

I have August 14 temporarily marked in my book for a permanent Doubtfire closing. It’s before the kids go back to school, and before the show premieres overseas in Manchester.
Yeah, this return seems like such an uphill climb. Even if the ultimate goal is no longer to recoup on Broadway but to lay the groundwork for a non-Equity tour and licensing.
If it gets a Best Musical nomination, it's a fifth-choice at best, but now the season is looking thin beyond two frontrunners. Six and A Strange Loop are the only two locks for nominations; then you also have (in order of likelihood) MJ, Girl from the North Country, Mrs. Doubtfire, Paradise Square, Flying Over Sunset, Mr. Saturday Night, and Diana.
