I was thinking this morning what was the most moving song, in my opinion of course. I think 'In His Eyes' is one of the most moving and powerful songs, whenever I listen to it I get chills!

I've said this on another thread, I think, but if the one-two punch of 14, Dwight Ave, Natick, Mass and The Day The Earth Stopped Turning from Elegies don't reduce you to a weeping wreck, then you are made of stone.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Maybe not the most moving, but it's certainly up there: Move On from Sunday in the Park with George.

Especially when Linda Eder and Christiane Noll sang it together.

First time I saw J & H with the original cast I could not believe how awesome that duet was.

Or course, Linda Eder would make Tip Toe Through The Tulips awesome.

I get chills during I’ll Cover You (reprise) from Rent every time I hear it, and I full out bawl when I see it onstage.

Rose’s little reprise of Small World after Herbie leaves is incredibly heart-breaking.

I have a horrible soft spot for Maybe from Annie(yeah, I know) especially if the girl singing it can act.

"A wonky eye, you've got my friend."

Defying Gravity is exetrememly powerful! And yes Linda Eder could make anything beautiful...hehe I just got her "Broadway My Way" and now it is so hard to choose, I think some other great songs are (not to Jekyll you guys out) A New Life, Edelweiss, and Gold from Camille Claudel!

"Il Adore" from Taboo is VERY moving. The first time I heard it, I was about to cry.

Also, "I'll Cover You: Reprise" from RENT makes me want to cry.

The whole seconds act of Rent makes me cry!

Anyway, I think "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" from LM is very moving, as is the LM Finale. Updated On: 8/27/04 at 01:31 PM

The Finale from Funny Girl

No Good Deed is one of the creepier songs (specially when you see it live)

The last note of One Day More also gives me chills

I agree with "II Adore" from Taboo. I cried the first few times I listened to it.

"I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables. Now nowbody likes a crier the first 15 minutes into a show but hey, it's just that good, I cannot help it. "One Day More" really gives me the chills, as does the final song. "To love another person is to see the face of God...." Oh and those harmonies. I am getting chills just thinking about it.

"Louder Than Words" from Tick.. Tick.. Boom! is one of my favorites as well. When I saw it I got major goosebumps, I was just taken by it.

That is one thing show-tunes do for me, they have the power to move me beyond any other type of music. I appreciate all kinds of music, and love it, but sometimes other stuff just can't compare.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen from the end of Nicholas Nickleby, when Nicholas picks up the little homeless child, showing life goes on and all the worlds problems are still with us!

On My Own from Les Mis...but hearing it a zillion times at auditions cheapened it a bit!

My posting name comes from "Being Alive" for a reason. Everyone, everyone knows what it's like to feel lost, unloved...and yearning for someone, anyone to give them that love. It's a beautiful song...and the Bernadette Peters version is especially awe-inspiring.

I've just recently (as in, two days ago) gotten into Caroline...and "Lot's Wife" is suuuch a moving song...as is "Epilogue/Emmie's Dream," though that's moving in a different sort of way. It makes you feel empowered and strong...knowing what the fight is going to be.

"Funeral" from Parade has so many cliches in it ("When she laughed you swore you'd never cry again" "She smiled at the foreman" "I don't know the coward's name/I don't know the bastard's face/but I swear right now to God/He ain't never gonna get away/With what he done to Mary")...but at the same time, on the recording, it's sung with such genuine emotion that it always gets to me. Plus, you know, when you think about a 13-year-old being raped and killed; that's gotta get to you.

"We Don't Belong Together" from Sunday makes me feel so sad and heartbroken for both George and Dot. And then pair that song with "Move On" and it's just astounding.

Yes. Wilderness is perhaps the most moving song frmo that show...amazing show, great song. I'd love to do that role for a long run somewhere and see if I get sick of that song. I doubt I would.
