as soon as i heard Marissa sing, i did not like the song. however, as i hear it more, i actually get used to it. but still dont like it that much.

I think we've all ommitted THEE mowst annoying song in musical theater:
TOMORROW from Annie!

I also can't stand "Ribbons Down My Back" and "It Only Takes a Moment" from Hello, Dolly! I love that show, but those 2 songs have become annoying over time.

And almost every song in "Bye Bye Birdie". I love the concept of the show (I think it's cute), but the lyrics to those songs are ridiculous.

because sometimes we just don't need to explain ourselves. If someone doesn't like a song it's usually because they either don't like the lyrics and/or music. Explaining why you don't like a show makes sense, but explaining why you don't like a song? There's only so much you could say.
It sucks. Why? Because it just does. lol

I have hated the whole thing (Hairspray) since the day I saw it. I hated the songs when I saw the show and I haven't listened to them since. I find it humorous though that so many people hate the songs now and when the show first opened I was considered a devil for hating any part of Hairspray. The score is boring, predictable (with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 songs) as is the rest of the show. And MJW didn't help my opinion of the score. But I have to agree with you- some people on this board seem to be listing songs that have become annoying over time to them and not annoying songs.

Mimi- I do have to comment on your dislike of "Somewhere That's Green." I am definetely far from a LSOH or Ellen Green fanatic but I think "Somewhere That's Green" is a beautifully hopeful song sung by an abused woman. Take away Ellen Green's voice and just listen to the lyrics. I really think it is a wonderful song. Sorry I just saw that and had to comment.

Oh and Impossible Dream when not sung by Robert G. can be gorgeous. But that's just my opinion.

-Brush Up Your Shakespeare from Kiss Me Kate- can we say POINTLESS SONG.
-I Enjoy Being A Girl from Flower Drum Song- sorry R&H but this song is just pathetic.

The whole idea of this thread is to show the different tastes of those who take the time to share their thoughts. There is nothing wrong with the posters here, with the exception perhaps of those who think that just because others don't like THEIR favorites, something must be wrong with those individuals.

As for me, I can't come up with a most annoying song at the moment...

Wait, I'm confused Juliette? I thought you liked Romeo and Juliette-the musical? You just listed so many songs from it that you find annoying.

Barcelona from Company! It's one of those songs that you can only listen to a couple of times, and those times would have to be very spread apart. The characters aren't even singing. They're talking in a singing manner.

hey im sorry about what i said about the Any Dream Will DO, i can see why some people think its annoying. i like it however.

For some reason anything from The Mystery of Edwin Drood always drives me nuts...that and most of the songs in Cats.

"Gus The Theater Cat" is the most annoying song EVER. ugh! I hate it to death. "They Don't Know" from Millie is kinda annoying, too.
