Musicals due for a revival

Let's do Mack and Mabel in 6 years for its 50th anniversary. PLEASE. Lincoln Center? Roundabout?

And Ragtime with an all-star cast. So, so relevant and so many of the lines feel like they were written two weeks ago.

Isn't it playing in London soon? Maybe that production will get some buzz and transfer

I should’ve been Blac Chyna.

It would be nice for Bernadette to star in her own Herman revival of Mame...her run in Dolly suggests that she can sell tickets in the right show.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

I same qolbinau's name and came to the thread specifically to see what show they'd dreamcast Bernadette in. :)

Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.

Parade.

Also I would NEVER have said funny girl, but I think jessie mueller could pull it off. Or, even better, a unknown! in the ultimate star-making role.

Yes. A well-received production from this spring transfers to the West End for a Nov-Feb run. I am seeing it shortly after previews start.

I think an American Idiot revival couldn't be more relevant given our current political climate...

God, the almighty and all-knowing, has misplaced a cup?

I still want the Megan Hilty-led Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I’ll also settle for a Hilly-led Annie Get Your Gun. Or run them both in rep.

MAME

BARNUM - saw the Meniere Chocolate Factory in London - something intimate like that would work - the show was a ton of fun

Musicals due for a revival

I was at a Q&A forum with Lynne Ahrens about a year ago and someone asked about a Seussical revival. She said she didn't want it to happen - the original experience was so traumatizing and she and Flaherty are quite content with it being a huge hit in amateur theatres and schools. Not saying it wouldn't happen in the right situation but it sounds like there's not a real desire from the creators.

I don't see a Seussical revival happening anywhere other than at Encores! The critics would just tear into that show again. The original was such a mess, but such an enjoyable mess. SpongeBob reminds me of it.

I have seen enough of seussical from manning the light board during my school's production. PLEASE NO, use all that talent somewhere else.

It's playing in Boston at  Lyric Stage next season in case you're into day trips: Aug 31 2018 - Oct 07 2018.

I'd like to see if anyone would potentially bring back Little Women and make it successful. It's one of those shows I listen to and find things I like about it as time passes.

I know based on all of the recent regional and school productions like one I was in recently, that it’s not necessarily due for a Broadway revival just yet, but I’d love to see The Drowsy Chaperone revived with this cast:

Man in Chair: David Hyde Pierce

Janet Van de Graff: Laura Osnes

Robert Martin: Tony Yazbeck

George: Eddie Korbich (Don’t know of any other older tap-dancing tenors)

Chaperone: Stephanie J. Block

Aldolpho: Andy Karl

Feldzieg: Michael McCormick

Kitty: Jennifer Simard

Gangsters: Nick Cordero and Wesley Taylor

Underling: Jefferson Mays

Mrs. Tottendale: Carol Burnett (Georgia Engel could always reprise her role)

Trix: Lilli Cooper

The Secret Garden for sure. Also echoing Caroline or Change.

This isn't technically a revival, but I do wonder if Heathers will ever find itself on Broadway.

Aida with an historically accurate cast... nobody had blond hair and blue eyes in Egypt! I would love to hear the orchestrations get retreated as well to really musically define Nubia and Egypt.

Cher is the only Mame that would sell out every performance[well maybe with Cher only doing 4 a week] with very little publicity and Baranksi as Vera, then as Mame when Cher is 'resting'. Lots of choices for another Vera and a newly discovered talent for Gooch.
