That's almost 20 years younger than Kristin, who is 53. It would work.

I would love that but would she be available? She is in CA for her TV series B Positive which is probably filming then. I wonder how much time off she would need?
How about this. As much as I like Annie it has been done to death. Why not Annie Warbucks. They finally got the sequel right and than never brought it to Broadway. Why!
Loved the show and would rather watch a tv version of that than Annie. . Thoughts ?

Annie Warbucks has a fantastic score, and book. It deserves a real revival. But I don't think a full TV broadcast would make sense though. No one knows it even exists beyond us Broadway nerds.
I think a lot of people would tune into a broadcast of Annie Warbucks thinking it was the original Annie. Ratings would flop. It would be a very dumb decision.
BREAKING: Newcomer Celina Smith will be playing Annie!
She has been seen in the national tour of “The Lion King” and currently stars on Nickelodeon’s “Young Dylan.”
Smith is black, so issues of the white savior trope are starting to come into play here.

Don’t the facts that she has been seen in a national tour and stars in a TV series negate a “newcomer” status?
I'm intrigued by all this!
Do we know if they're shooting in NY or LA?
I hope they can figure out how to do something about the echoey sound which has been so distracting in other LIVE musicals and on this year's Oscars in the train hall. Especially since they have multiple people in the cast known for their singing...

Congratulations, Celina!
No doubt her portrayal will inspire countless girls of color across the world.
I'm dying to hear who will play Lily. And I really hope the ensemble and featured roles are made up of Broadway talent.

Considering the few people that might remember in the national tour and your school-aged niece or nephew who might actually watch Nickelodeon? This is arguably her big breakthrough.
I grew up with the 1999 TV version, and I still think that is one of the best adaptations of “Annie” so far. This one’s looking good on paper but it still has to earn its stripes.

^^ I just saw her as Aretha's mother in Respect on Sunday. I've been an Audra fan since the TV remake of A Raisin in The Sun!
