According to ATC, there were some announcements by Sondheim last night at his talk in Palm Beach.
1) -- It seems the recent Roundabout reading of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with Natashia Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave, Victor Garber, etc., looks as thought it WILL materialize as a full blown revival on the New York Stage in the near future, apparently with much of that same illustrious cast.
#2) -- The cast of ROAD SHOW will head into the studio on February 23rd to record the cast album.
And he confirmed there will be MERRILY revival next season..

yay...
Fantastic news all around!!
awesome! Now I want to know who will be in the Merrily revival.
I'm only really excited about ALNM. I can do without MERRILY and ROAD SHOW. But all three announcements are extremely exciting all the same.
I must agree the best news here is there will be a Night Music revival let alone with this same cast. Perhaps if that happens though Benanti can come play Anne and Angela Lansbury can be Mme. Armfeldt.
OMG i might die... this is the greatest news

That just made my day.
Any chance we can get ALNM without Roundabout? How about LCT? I'd hate to hear the score on a synthesizer and in front of a staircase and chandelier that's meant to be a chateau. Either way, this is all great news.
YES! This is great news!

Wonderful news! I'm seeing Sondheim when he comes to Philly, if only he would announce a Follies revival...

YAY FOR ALNM!
I just hope that Kassebaum doesn't transfer with it.

About time!
Not that there haven't been ALNM dream cast threads before, but I'll just throw in my thoughts: Angela Lansbury for Madame Armfeldt and Susan Blackwell for Charlotte.
And please let this be a lush, beautifully constumed, traditional revival, free of any abstract, minimalist, pre-post-meta-modern theatrics.
"Artists are always on the vanguard of change: they give the community a vision."
"Desire comes from the Latin "de sire", or "of the father", or "of the stars". We want what is magical, what is out there, what is of the stars. And so our characters should as well."
"If there are people who don't believe in you, don't hang out with them. Wish them well, wish them peace, and move on."
Christine Baranski was perfect in every way as Charlotte, so why in God's name would they want to replace her with Blackwell?

^ If Baranski decides not to participate, Susan Blackwell would be a fine choice...but I'm not sure she has the soprano for it.
ALMN would be amazing. And with that cast... just amazing. They definitely need a huge production, grandiose sets and costumes, a huge, and sumptuous orchestra.
Ya I hope Kassenbaum doesn't transfer either. Shes good and all but I want someone a little more exotic looking for the role. That and while I didnt see the concert I heard she was only meh.
As long as Todd Haimes isn't involved with Night Music, what good news! Hopefully LTC puts it on. That would be thrilling.
More Sondheim news-
Per a recent note from Mr. Sondheim, there are "no nibbles from producers to transfer Road Show", but it will likely play London. Those of you in the UK, don't miss it when it comes to you!
If Lansbury plays Madame Armfeldt, I will return to NYC for the first time since Ragtime.
While Lansbury would be marvelous, by all accounts I hear Vanessa Redgrave was quite good. I'd still prefer Angela in the part though.
Great News! thanks for bringing it to my attention

I hope they get a Henry that can sing the part!
And oh, oh, oh, I hope LCT puts it on!
Henry?
And if Roundabout produced the concert reading, wouldn't it be likely that they would produce the revival?
I would hope that Victor Garber decides to continue with the project now that he has accepted to go back to the life of 8 shows a week. He is perfection.
I doubt that Laura Benanti would play Anne in a full-blown revival, it seems like a small part for her to take at this point in her career. Although I would really love for her to play the role on Broadway.
Wonder if Marc Kudisch, Baranski, Richardson, and Redgrave have agreed to be in the show.
Benanti should just play Anne. She'd be fabulous. It's not a huge part, but it's an excellent part. It'd be a unique challenge, one she has taken before and she'd be a wonderful addition to the planned revival.
