This is so unbelievably depressing. I just want to scream right now.

” But the Tony is most likely to go to Montego Glover of “Memphis,” who remained committed to the musical through years of development and delivers powerhouse emotion in her performance as a young Memphis singer looking for a break in a music industry run by white men. Ms. Glover may not be a movie star, but she has become a Broadway star in “Memphis.”

I refuse to believe Montego will win. She really doesn't deserve it. She is giving a perfectly good performance but FAAAAAAAR from Tony worthy. I would have thought of her as the last in the category as the 5th place holder. I hope Fela sweeps if anything is going to sweep.

The Tonys this year are going to be so depressing.

I hope the statement about Montego becomes a reality. I am a huge fan of Miss Glover, but I think CZJ might win unfortunately.

To be honest, the only woman who really wow-ed me was Christiane Noll..shame she doesn't really have a shot.

Noll winning Tony for ruining an amazing role would mean that Pastor Fred is right and God does hate America.

How exactly did Noll "ruin" the role of Mother for you, Jordan?

No show devoted to the lives of black characters has won the best musical Tony since “Ain’t Misbehavin,’ ” in 1978.

Hairspray?

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

The main protagonists in Hairspray are the fat white girl and her mother. The black characters and their storyline are absolutely the secondary "B plot."

The article is slightly optimistic that FELA! will win.

Riedel's productions are up. Basically the same but he says CZJ has it. Who to believe? Patrick Healy or Michael Riedel? ugggh.

I would have never ever thought that Tony voters would have such poor taste that they would pass on a glamorous Oscar-winning Catherine Zeta-Jones in a Tony-winning role to vote for non-actress big-voiced Montego nobody Glover. What a shame.

Let's just hope Riedel is right. The "statistics" are scary.

Outer Critics Circle Award: Catherine Zeta-Jones and Montego Glover
Drama Desk Award: Catherine Zeta-Jones and Montego Glover
Ben Brantley's prediction: Montego Glover
Charles Isherwood's prediction: Catherine Zeta-Jones
Patrick Healy's prediction: Montego Glover
Michael Riedel's prediction: Catherine Zeta-Jones
LA Times Gold Derby prediction: Montego Glover (with two more "picks" than CZJ)
Time Out New York's prediction: Catherine Zeta-Jones (with 44% Montego 38%)

They are literally deadlocked.

Well, if we really need to compare these two, I will totally vote for CZJ, but that's only based on the clips I saw on this site.

If Glover wins, I hope you guys aren't too harsh on her and feel a little bit happy for her - she didn't cast the votes!

But isn't it the fact that Montego is Catherine Zeta-Jones main competitor sad enough? I mean, I thought Sherie Rene Scott, a hugely talented actress, would be Zeta-Jones main competition. I just don't understand how Montego Glover could win an acting award, this is not a singing competition, it's an acting honor.

Thank god, Ray! That's what it should be happening. Well, in my opinion, it's not Glover's fault. I will just have doubts on the credibility of the Tonys if she wins. And if Eddie Redmayne loses, I will have total lost in faith to it.

^Exactly.

If you look at the women who've won this award over the past 5 years...and then add Montego freaking Glover into the mix...yeah. The drop in quality between those 5 women and Glover is astounding. The fact that she'll even be mentioned in the same breath as them is a joke.

But, what else can you expect from this horrible season?
