I always assumed that if the theaters let people in earlier it meant not only more labor costs but higher insurance premiums. I was actually shocked when the Hayes let us in very early for Appropriate but then I realized they are non-profit so perhaps they have different guidelines. But I agree with you chrishuyen, any staggering of start times would be welcome on my part. I always try to seek out Monday performances when they’re available.
That Times story is right 8th between 34th and 42nd is gnarly. You are fine walking it but you will step over needles, see a stabbing, avoid a tranq user, and dodge garbage. I mistakingly walked it yesterday to avoid going over to 7th and had to move to avoid two fist fights and almost got run over by a tranq victim taking down. The city needs to address that area. And I’m a firm believer in the city is in much better shape than most anyone believes.
Finally!! Cracking down on the pedicabs and illegal vendors in midtown Manhattan. The NYPD has been dismantling dozens of pedicabs and going after the illegal vendors selling fake sh*t. They say this has been harming tourism and people who work in midtown. Good for Eric Adams. Time to evict all the “residents” of the Row, Candler Building, Roosevelt Hotel, Square Hotel, Watson Hotel, and others, and then we’ll really get Broadway back on track. Operation Front Door
I have never once been accosted by one of the sidewalk vendors. Like... they're selling fake Gucci on the sidewalk, when you show interest they're going to talk to you because they're trying to make a sale. Is it any different than a random store that sells knock offs? Or being able to order them online? Street Vendors aren't doing anything unsafe, they're cracking down because the city isn't making money off them but they'll certainly spend money to get rid of them.

Amen. But F those pedicabs assaulting our ears and running lights and blocking sidewalks. Those things are the worst.
I've got headphones in all the time and I dont let anybody get in my way... I'm gay and I'm dip dobbing through people and vehicles to get where I want.
Good for you as a dip dobbing gay, but how about the middle-aged housewife tourist who happens to look at the LV purse laid out on the blanket for two seconds and then gets cornered by the vendors?
Yeah yeah, we know nothing bad ever happened to you in midtown, but how have you made it this many years in the world without realizing you’re not the only person in it?
The Mayor is being investigated by the FBI and the NYPD Commissioner stepped down three days ago. I’d say that any substantial change in nyc is very much up in the air.
Less of them outside the hotels, and a lot less of their bikes around. There was mad motor bikes they used for door dash work. This went on for years and years, then the city cracked down on that, and now I don’t see as many regular bikes either.

Wait wait wait... now you're getting pissed at them for having LEGAL jobs like Door Dash? And I'm sorry, but saying you see less bikes for Door Dash AND Rats? You are such an unserious person, my god.

"Years and years", huh? Every time we think you can't sound more ignorant, you always find a way to prove us wrong.
I hear HBO MAX is interested in booking you for a standup show...

At this point I don't think there is a group that they haven't made an offensive remark about. That is why I found it rather strange that people on here are defending this person and saying people on here are bullying them which I actually find offensive.
"I hope your Fanny is bigger than my Peter."
Mary Martin to Ezio Pinza opening night of Fanny.

We have not visited NYC since before the Pandemic, but hope to return next year. We love the quirky mixture of grit and glamour that NYC offers. We are not offended by rats (which we have never seen); or migrants (just how would we know they were migrants); or pedi-cabs; or street vendors; or anything else that might come to mind.
We ARE offended, however, by the hatred exhibited here by certain posters. I don't understand it, and yet I do.
Well asylum seekers can only work legally after they’ve been in the country for 6 months. The vast majority of them are not granted asylum and then either get deported or remain in the country illegally. The migrants were using legal residents’ door dash. They had to pay them a fee for this. It was widely reported on, but it’s also what I witnessed. And yes it has been going on for years starting in 2021
