So glad that I made it back to Hadestown tonight. I just really loved Daniel Breaker and Ali Louis Bourzgui.

Who’s seeing this all-new group of gods and men this evening?
Any reports?
A short clip of Jack's "Wait For Me" is making the rounds and WOW.
I was quite impressed. I'm booking tickets to see them again in November because if this is what they are doing now, I cannot imagine how outstanding they will be once they settle in more.
Wolfe has a divine voice. Truly a perfect fit for Orpheus. I cannot rave enough about this performance and what a fantastic Broadway debut for him. Might be my favorite Orpheus thus far.
Jones is similarly outstanding. If I didn't know any better, I would believe they wrote this part for her. I can't say enough good things
Ellis really wowed me. He strikes a balance between being an everyman Hermes and a god-like Hermes. He is completely captivating on stage, start to finish. I was not familiar with his work before this, but became a fan tonight. Totally wowed by his performance.
Dudley has a beautiful voice, great chemistry with Wolfe, but is overdoing it, acting-wise. Flat at times. It was not bad for a 3rd performance, but it left something to be desired.
I was a bit disappointed with Szot. I thought he was better in the second act, but his singing in the first act, specifically in Chant, was off last night.
Overall, I am continually impressed with the casting in this show, and this latest group did not disappoint, even with the last 2. I think I was mostly wanting more from Dudley/Szot because of how truly terrific everyone else was; they just didn't match that. There were flashes of greatness from both, so I have a feeling they will grow into their parts.
According to her Instagram bio, Rebecca Naomi Jones will be in the show until December 14.

It would have been nice to see Breaker and Jones reunited, and I am sorry I missed him in any event because hes always such a fantastic actor, but I will definitely make my way back to see Jones in this. Ironic that it feels like the part was written for her, since she replaced Amber Grey in Oklahoma the season Hadestown came out.
Run to see this cast!!
I went original to (finally) see John Krause as Orpheus. I can finally join the chorus in saying his Orpheus is outstanding and now ranks as my favorite. Smooth vocals, great acting and looked very comfortable in the role despite bouncing in and out of the Broadway show and the (equity) national tour for a few years.
Kurt Selling blew me away as Hermes. Thoroughly impressed with him. Vocally different than any previous Hermes. A mix of country and blues and a hint of rock vocals. Acting wise was also impressive. Emotional, commanding, sensitive. Felt very much a like he was a friendly, nextdoor neighbor type of Hermes. My second favorite Hermes next to Andre. Rebecca was excellent as Persephone. Very comfortable in the role for it being her third week only. However, her voice did appear to be going out towards the end. Dudley was fine as Eurydice, not great, good vocals, acting was okay.
Szot was okay was Hades. Definitely the weakest of the new cast members. His voice was muffled at times but was a demanding Hades though. His "Why We Build The Wall" was very powerful.
This ensemble continues to be rock solid. Had four covers on today: Sydney Parra as Fate, with three swings on(Alex Lugo, Tanner Wilson and Brandon Cameron). Shout-out to the producers, casting team and director for continuing to blow us away with their casting picks. Bravo!

Have been dying to get to this cast as a huge fan of Kurt Elling.
Stalking TDF and nothing has been up for awhile. Any other deals to be had? He tours extensively and while there isn't anything immediately on the horizon, the chance he leaves for an extended time come festival season is there.

Kurt has his out dates up through February. They'll appear if you go to click a date on the Walter Kerr website. I went through all the dates a couple of weeks ago, and these were his listed days out: 10/23-10/26, 11/11-11/16, 1/27-2/1, 2/4, 2/13, 2/27. These are always subject to change, of course, but I think you would probably be safe as long as you avoid these dates.

Allison Russell returns as Persephone, starting December 16.

Wonderful news, Allison was so good when I saw it. And she was just announced the same day as a Guest Judge on Canada's Drag Race!

i saw this in previews, then again when it reopened post-pandemic, and again this weekend.
it holds up, mostly. i still think the whole thing could be an intermissionless 2 hours, and i always thought that the Hades songs drag, but when its gorgeous, man is it gorgeous.
but really here to report that (i) Rebecca Jones is giving a really thoughtful performance as Persephone (or, she was, her last show was tonight), her Lady of the Underground in particular was out of this world, the best version out of the three Persephones I've seen, and (ii) Jack Wolfe is a simply PHENOMENAL Orpheus. Honestly, it feels like Persephone was a character written for Jones, and like this score was written with Wolfe's voice in mind.
Seeing the show tomorrow night, first time in years. Still smarting that I missed Rebecca, but now that she's gone, how is the latest cast? I've seen Paulo, I'm somewhat familiar with Jack Wolfe, but I'll admit I don't know any of the new principals?
I went early in their run and they seemed all pretty strong.
Jack Wolfe seems born to play Orpheus because he is such a natural fit for the role. He has puppy-like qualities without becoming cloying, and also sufficient grit and determination to make “Wait For Me” really soar and the ending scene hit much harder. Part of this is because of the chemistry he has with Morgan Dudley, who is excellent in her own right. Not since Solea have I seen a Eurydice that has some edge to her and isn’t just some lost soul.
Of the two other males, Elling fares best as Hermes. He’s a renowned jazz legend, so this score fits him like a glove, especially when he adds a bit of husky Cajun spice into his riffs. It’s one of the best out of the box casting decisions in a minute. Paulo, on the other hand, seems a bit more divisive amongst viewers. I found him enjoyable because he is charismatic and sexy - which isn’t usually something I’ve seen in a Hades - and so I’m more inclined to see why Eurydice is tempted and he was great with RNJ. His voice is more operatic though, so even when he’s in his lowest register, it strikes the ear differently - sometimes good, sometimes bad.
I’m curious as to who else is coming in down the pike soon. I know (from the inside) that J. Harrison Ghee is on deck to take over as Hermes soon and there will also be a new standby Hermes/Hades, but I’m wondering if Jack, Morgan, and Paulo will all extend.

Does anyone know if Jack Wolfe is on tomorrow night? I know things come up but is he on vacation right now?
