Alex Lugo will be taking over Tara's Persephone cover."
Yes. That's noted in the Playbill already. I'm curious about the new swing that joined this week that's already gone on.

I saw the second show with Ali and Myra. I think Ali will be pretty good once he settles into the role a little more, but I enjoyed his performance nonetheless. Myra can sing the part but her acting was... rough. The rest of the cast is in great shape - Merle Dandridge has improved immeasurably since the last time I saw her and is probably my favorite Persephone since Amber Gray, Phillip Boykin is perfection as always, and Daniel Breaker has really made the role his own.
Four swings on tonight apparently and nobody knows who this new swing is....
Chibueze Ihuoma is on as Orpheus tonight while Sydney Parra makes her Eurydice debut tonight with Max Kumangai as Hades. Three swings are also on tonight.

Sydney is a revelation as Eurydice! Lucky audience!
Does anyone have any insight into whether any of the original cast from NYTW were ever offered the opportunity to do it on Broadway? Specifically, Damon Daunno and Chris Sullivan. I know Sullivan probably has more lucrative offers in the TV world, but Daunno is a Tony nominee and still primarily works in theater.

I would be surprised- those two parts were the most re-conceived in the years between NYTW and its current form. Neither Daunno nor Sullivan are really right for them now.

Yeah, the Orpheus changed a LOT, and for the better. He was by far my least favorite part at NYTW and it took me until Broadway to realize that it had been the character and not Damon.
I really loved Chris Sullivan’s Hermes and and so glad we have the partial cast recording from that production to preserve his performance. I was most sad about losing him when it came to Broadway, but of course Andre De Shields was incredible and the role was very different by then.
New casting starting September 2:
Broadway Star Joined: 4/13/13
Also, Wolfe will not be performing from September 9-21.
Rebecca Naomi Jones?!? Oh, what a DREAM. Can't wait to return!

Why not make Wolfe wait until September 23 to start? He'll perform for one week and then be out for two weeks and then return.
Very excited about Kurt Elling, who is one of my favorite vocalists.

I'm guessing to make a big deal of the entire leading cast turning over?

They could’ve played it as a full cast announcement “with a surprise Orpheus announcement” later

That only works if you're hiring a name... otherwise its not a surprise, its just casting.

Yes, this is the most exciting bit of this casting news. Perfect for the part.
Hadestown celebrates their 2,000 show tonight. Congratulations!!
Also, Yaya is back as a swing for a month. They were called back last week as Marla got injured during the show on Thursday and Tanner Wilson is on vacation.

If I remember correctly, Sullivan was in talks to return after the conclusion of THIS IS US, but ended up doing The Thanksgiving Play that year.
John Krause will return as Orpheus from September 9-21 in Wolfe's absence.

Grace Yoo is back as Fate 1 for a few weeks while Jessie is on vacation.

Ughhhh. That's what I worried was the case. I'm still dying to see him in that part again, or really any musical for that matter. I love his voice.

I remember reading that both couldn't make it work. Chris Sullivan had timing conflicts with other work, per an interview a couple years ago is open to the idea of returning but it never worked out - not sure if that's changed since.
Damon and Amber both were involved with the Oklahoma! revival and due to scheduling basically had to pick between them. Damon chose Oklahoma!, Amber chose Hadestown. Per Damon at a stage door convo, he liked Hadestown fine but it was more 'just a job' to him than something he was really invested in. Didn't get the impression there was any beef, just neutral feelings. I imagine he'd come back if he needed work and they offered it, but the role has changed so much I don't think they would.
