I only saw one comment so far about the lack of diversity. It's so interesting when they talk about that and then turn around and praise the casting that actually happens and say things like "it's been a long time coming!" "so deserved" like- which one do you want?"
A small part of me did roll my eyes and seeing two white girls in the leads yet again, but they’re both first time principals and I think that’s great. As long as they continue to leave all roles open to everyone, and actually adhere to that, it should be fine."
So white girls aren't allowed to dream of playing these iconic roles? I agree- leave it open to everyone. Don't attack those who are cast in these roles saying "it should have gone to a BIPOC". We're not limiting it. That just happened to be the casting this time around."
Nobody attacked anyone. Calm down.

Vocally absolutely thrilling and powerful, but her acting was more nuanced than I've seen in recent casts. Hope she does get to take over."
Keri is replacing Lencia and is leaving the standby role in a few weeks. Talia will be back to standby (and has scheduled shows the weekend of 2/7) while they rehearse the brand new standby.
Glinda is new to the show."
Christy Altomare?"
Could see Christy playing the part but, i'm honestly hoping for Taylor Louderman or Emma Pittman
"
I know the roles have been announced but Christy is also pregnant so I doubt she would have auditioned for this"
Oh right! Forgot about that. She would be perfect for the part, though I hope she gets to play it someday. Also, feel bad for Allison Bailey; it seems she really wants it. I wonder if they will make her standby once Jennafer leaves.

I didn’t attack them, I’m simply stating this because it took like 25 years to have a black woman as lead Elphaba the states and they should be embarrassed by that. As stated previously, I think Keri and Emma will be fabulous and I’m thrilled. Both opinions can be true.

And Taylor Louderman is retired and living as a stay-at-home mom in Missouri. I wouldn't expect to see her back on Broadway any time soon.

Just an aside...A week ago I was doing a search on Ariana Grande. Gemini AI told me that she is in "Wicked" on Broadway and has been nominated for a 2026 Tony Award (Which alone is impossible at this point in time). It went on to say that she was nominated in the supporting category so she would not be going head to head with Cynthia. I just shook my head! I took a pic of it but can't figure out how to post it.

Talia is only joining until March 8th as a temporary standby. I assume a new standby will be announced later.
Alison Bailey and Olivia Valli are currently leading the tour until February 6th and 8th while Jessie and Zoe are on leave/vacation.

These two beauties - Keri and Emma - begin their run in WICKED tonight, anybody here going?
(Also looking forward to hearing the Carl, Blake, and Ellen reports.)

Any word if the current tour leads are extending or if we’ll get another changeover in May?
It was just announced Sadie Dickerson (Sandra Dee) departs Just in Time on April 19th. Maybe she could be the new Glinda out on the road?

Came here to see what people were saying about last night but I guess I'll be the first!
In short: the show is in incredible hands. You would have had no idea it was their first night together on Broadway. Keri Rene Fuller does both Act I and Act II Elphaba so well that the growth of the character feels so real (and culminates in a super powerful No Good Deed). Emma Flynn, who I knew less about going in, found so much humor in Glinda, she really had the audience in the palm of her hand from the beginning (plus she has the perfect voice for it). Excited to see how she grows into the role considering this was literally her first night - she found so many comedic moments, I'm curious where she may find even more.
I feel like the focus will be on the main two witches but I was SOO impressed with Ellen Harvey's Morrible! I can't believe she's never played her before! Perfect voice, mannerisms, and you really believed her as both the supportive figure in Act I and the villain she reveals herself to be (her "WIICKKEDD WITCHH!" was so so good and it left me still wishing we had a better singer in the film version).
Carl Man (who uses his British accent since I know that was a question) was great - smooth dancing, great voice, and very believable that multiple people would be in love with him (honestly, I was). I don't think the chemistry with Keri is quite there yet but considering it was their first night, I'm confident that will grow.
It had been a couple year since I'd seen the show but it felt super fresh and hit all the right emotional notes throughout (the sound felt very off at times though? a couple mic issues? not sure if that's just me, but that was my one issue).
