Not to derail any further, but I think what happened was Nicole was sublime in an interesting/new revival and surrounded by interesting choices and cast. Where as Audra was also sublime but surrounded by ho-hum performances and stale direction.

Audra's Roses Turn was great. The rest of the performance was bad
I love the POV that Nicole’s Sunset was some transcendent experience because I saw it twice and couldn’t stop laughing at how seriously that production took itself for Nicole to constantly ham it up. Some say it’s exceptional acting, I thought it was more a demonstration of talent combined with personality. She sounded great, though. The real standout to me was Tom Francis, who sort of gets brushed past for the twerking songstress.

I think Paddington is a show greater than the sum of its parts but I could imagine a scenario where we get a dual combined nomination for the singer and actor who both play Paddington (if possible - I mean they did nominate 3 Billy Elliot’s right?), and potential supporting nominations for 1 or more of Millicent Clyde, Mr Curry and Mrs Bird (if they have someone notable in that role).
There are over 800 Tony voters; short of canvassing a representative percentage of them, we have no way of knowing how many voted for which nominee and for what reasons. We will ever only know who won a plurality of votes (and if there are 5 nominees, someone can win with as little as 21% of the vote).

I think Rachel Z might disrupt it should Evita come butmaybe C levy will already have her Tony by then from Ragtime."
I don't pretend to know the mind of a tony voter, but if NEXT TO NORMAL were to announce a transfer before this years awards, would it hurt Levy's chances of winning for Ragtime? If only because folks might assume and be anxious to vote for her the following year..."
There were rumors thatvoters really wanted to give the Tony to Kelli O'Hara for The Bridges of Madison County in 2014,but since it was announced that she was going to star inThe King & Ithe following season, they decided to wait until then. Although in that scenario, Bridgeswasn't successful. Critics were divided over the whole thing, it failed to make the cut for Best Musical, and closed shortly after nominations were announced. Plus, the eventual winner, Jessie Mueller, was giving a star-making performance in a Broadway hit.
Withthe Best Lead Actress in a Play race in 2017, Laurie Metcalf was the frontrunner to win for A Doll's House, Part 2, but Laura Linney managed to win that category for The Little Foxes at both the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards. I remember it was announced that Metcalf was gonna be starring alongside Glenda Jackson in Three Tall Women the following season midway through final voting. I even wondered if that was gonna convince voters to give it to Linney then and wait another year to give it to Metcalf. But none of that mattered as in the end, the latter managed to win in separate categories two years in a row.
So with Caissie Levy this year, I think what we should keep an eye out for is who could potentially challenge her. Although if Next to Normal only plays a limited run in the fall, it probably wouldn't matter as we've seen how hard it is for performances in closed musical productions to win Tonys."
All really interesting scenarios. I mean I think the only real challenge is Marla Mindelle? Can't think of any other performer this season giving a better performance the Caissie's Mother.

I think Caissie Levy has the Tony this year in the bag given the competition, can't see a scenario when a seasoned actress like her doesn't get her flowers for an acclaimed turn in an acclaimed revival when her main competition is a newbie or Marla playing Celine in a satire.

Paddington isn’t transferring. It’s way too risky as it’s not a huge title in America

I'm sure it can get there since people of all ages seem to really enjoy it. Family shows are usually big money makers over here.

The thought of Jack Wolfe getting a Tony nom while Aaron Tveit didn't... makes me laugh for some reason.

Maybe Aaron shouldn't have wished on that Monkey's Paw back in 2009...

Audra’s performance changed through the run. When I saw a late preview it was absolute perfection, filled with depth and nuance. When I saw it again a few months into the run, she was definitely overdoing it. It felt like she was trying to force emotion out.
Nicole was giving a forced performance from the jump. Pounding her chest, shaking her hands, giving a lot of energy in lieu of sound acting. Gratuitous, slow and long As if I never said goodbye, cringe. It was all so horrible, I was appalled when she won. I was speechless and completely in awe when I saw Glenn Close, by the time I saw Nicole, it all felt so small. Tom Francis blew her out of the water. That’s opposite.

Sunset was highly stylized and meticulously staged. Nicole's performance was part of the entire vision, and it worked perfectly in Lloyd's world.
So, when can we expect an official announcement?

this is super incorrect
Maybe sometime in March-April if it’s part of Roundabout or Second Stage’s season?

If it's coming as part of a nonprofit season, an announcement would come either in spring or early summer. Roundabout and MTC announced their current seasons at the start of March; Second Stage and LCT announced theirs in early June.

And yet other people played the role in that same production and were just as good if not better at it...
Who?

If it IS Second Stage, wouldn't the Hayes be too small? Like I know it's a small show but that theater just feels overly small for a musical. Unless it would be Second Stage producing in a different theater.
Roundabout makes more sense logistically, imo
And that's if it is indeed a subscription house.

What is a subscription theatre?

My first reaction was caution, because rumors often don’t come to pass, and curiosity about whether a transfer would include the main London cast.
But my primary thought was that I really, really liked that revival - even though I only watched it on TV. It’s one of those possible transfers I would overpay to see.
I don’t know how popular a revival would be, but I would love to see it.

A theatre that sells subscription packages of shows therefore building an audience base for its productions and presumably facing a bit less pressure for individual ticket sales to shows.
