Is Effie considered a lead in the stage version of Dreamgirls? Only have seen the movie but I remember JHud winning for supporting.

Every single time I see this thread pop up again I get excited that an announcement is coming. Crossing fingers. Caissie is absolutely incredible as Diana.

People seem to be claiming that the West End revival + cast has their NY venue, but who knows at this point.

Paddington is set for a spring 2027 transfer, per a friend who will be working on the production.
Crossing all my fingers the N2N production transfers with Caissie, Jack Wolfe, and Eleanor Worthington-Cox at the very least. Would be thrilled if Jamie Parker came over, but could see them wanting to find a "broadway name" to replace him. Saw the production a few times at the Donmar and thought it was just exquisite with a stunning performance from Levy and the rest of the Goodman family.

Curious what theatre this has. I can see this production doing extremely well with Caissie likely having just won a Tony for Ragtime, Jack Wolfe buzz, and possible Aaron Tveit buzz fresh off of Chess. Really hope Eleanor Worthingron Cox reprises as Natalie.

Is it true Paddington is taking the Hirschfeld?

If rumors are to be believed, this has a venue with an open-ended production that has not announced its closing yet.

If so, that's ironic since the original production was going to play the Longacre (with the balcony closed)

I have a feeling that Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) will continue running at least into Tony season.

Two strangers has a better chance not getting nominated than winning best musical. The shows not good folks

The rumor was a subscription house, and & Juliet's grosses have been looking rough for quite a while now, so this was my assumption as well.

Any update on when this could be announced?

Re, timing ---- and this speculation is just an educated guess, not based on fact --- if it is indeed Caissie leading (as I also very much hope is the case), they'd wait until just around / right after the Tonys, to keep focus on her Ragtime performance. I could also see the production having an extended run like South Pacific if it does well.
In terms of venue, I haven't a clue; the Schoenfeld and Golden would be great, but both Buena Vista and Mincemeat are really holding their own, which is lovely to see. I haven't yet seen the former, though friends have universally loved it, but I had a blast at the latter.
Does the Booth have a tenant for the fall that's been announced? (I heard a mild rumor that some Paranormal happenings have been reported around there.)
Again, just presumption, but I'm assuming Shubert is likely involved in some capacity and would wan to give the new production a prime venue.

When Sam Eckmann of Gold Derby guested on this week's episode of the Broadway Breakdown podcast, he mentioned that he's hoping they hold off on an announcement until after this year's Tonys. He feels that if this gets announced before final voting closes, it would hurt Levy's chances of winning for Ragtime, thus they may just save their votes for next year. But then they discussed how that never works.
Although we have seen scenarios like Kelli O'Hara contending for The Bridges of Madison County, announced to star in The King & I the following year, lose for the former, but win for the latter. Then again, there's been other scenarios like Laurie Metcalf contending for A Doll's House, Part Two, announced to star in Three Tall Women the following season, but still win for both.
In fact, I remember prior to the 2019 nominations announcement, my friend was predicting her to miss for Hillary & Clinton because she was already announced to star in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? the following year. My response to that was "I think that would more hurt her chances of winning than of actually nominated." Low and behold, Metcalf not only did the make the cut for Hillary & Clinton, but Virginia Woolf closed during previews.

Very good and interesting points all around; one could equally argue that any and all press around Caissie during award season would generate some nice momentum for her leading the new NTN production / juice Ragtime sales for her 'final weeks'.
However it works out, I do hope that this materializes; the original Broadway cast remains etched in my memory -- and I was very fortunate to see the very much missed Marin Mazzie giving an *INCREDIBLE* performance during her and Jason Danieley's stint together.
Excited to see who jumps into these very rich roles and how they make them their own.

If we draw parallels between C Levy and Kelli, personally I feel that Ragtime is Kelli’s King and I equivalent and next to normal is the bridges equivalent. Ie I do wish C Levy would win more for next to normal than Ragtime. But if the opportunity is there to have the award for Ragtime best for her to try and take it while she can. Eg if we end up having Rachel Zegler transfer the award will be hers and Levy will lose just as she lost to Nicole S at the Oliviers in Sunset.

Agreed. I feel like next year could be tough competition between Rachel Zegler and whoever is Effie in Dreamgirls revival among others we do not know of. I am sure producers of both Ragtime and N2N would want to wait until after Tony’s as Caissie would have a ton of buzz from a possible Tony win.
Curious what theater this takes.

A good friend close to the production in London has told me this has no plans of moving in to NYC any time soon... (but maybe I'm wrong!)

I’ve wondered if this all started from the sweaty oracle and just spread like wildfire without actually being true.

Strange that you say that its not coming, and yet a friend that was just talking with her manager this week said that Caissie was heading into a busy fall and winter as she pretty well wraps up Ragtime and is into another show come the Fall/Winter... to which I figured - obviously N2N.
