I know that it was recorded in May, but does anyone know the release date? I have looked everywhere. It's being released by Shout Factory (I thought) but their website has no listings. Anyone know more....

From their website:
"Please note: there is no definite release date at this time but we expect this item to be available within 2-3 weeks (subject to change)."

Excellent! Thanks. Didn't think to check the shows website.
They posted on their FB page last week that it has been recorded but no release date set yet
It's in cast recording limbo with Carrie.
^ Along with The Grinch and Cry Baby.
^Except neither of those were actually recorded.
It is currently scheduled for a mid-fall release.
I believe I read recently that it would be available by Aug 1st.
It is due for an October release.
I am waiting for this very patiently

From what I understand it's still being mixed.
I hope it comes out soon!!! I'm dying to hear it!! The "Nice Work" twitter account says it coming very soon, but not exact date yet. Web site also says 2-3 weeks.
^ The website has been saying that for 3 weeks already!
^^^ good point. hahaha! Hopefully it is soon!!
Someone posted on facebook that they thought it was being released October 1st. Anyone know if this is accurate?
One of the ensemble members tweeted that it would be released in the fall but that it is finished. No specific date just the fall. So Oct 1st seems to be on track with that.
It's silly how long it's taken them. There's no way it takes this long to mix. I don't understand why they're waiting until October - makes absolutely no business sense.
People come out of the theater with those wonderful Gershwin songs in their head, and feel like buying the cast album! Why not sell to that crowd now, while the show's still running and they're still interested - the production is running that fine line between passable and trouble-zone in terms of grosses, and might not even make it to October.
The people posting on this board are big enough Broadway fans to buy the album whenever it comes out, but remember, we're a really small contingent. This show has a huge demographic of suburbanites from the tri-state area who come in, have a really fun night, and think "ah, a recording of this would be great to own, I'll go buy it on my way out of the theater." They won't remember to buy the damn thing on iTunes by time it comes out.

I agree that the CD should have been released by now and would have resulted in many sales since the music is terrific but don't agree that the grosses this show are pulling in are in a danger zone. I think if you would have asked the producers of this show back in March if they expected 800K weeks in August, they would have been thrilled. They have only just started a sensible and targeted marketing campaign and I would expect their sales to be consistent as long as Broderick and O'Hara are in the show.
Well hopefully i'm wrong and it comes out sooner because I'm really looking forward to this cast recording. I know they want to be very thorough with the mixing but isn't 4 1/2 months a little unnecessary? I have no idea what it takes to make a cast recording but most other shows don't take nearly this much time.
Or if nothing else for sale in the theatre. Hopefully it sounds amazing due to how long the mixing is taking.

The album mix was finished. Waiting for approvals from the Gershwin Estate. The cd will be released very soon in the theatre and a Sept release nationally.

Thanks for the info, tdl83! Then the Gershwin Estate is silly. I'm sure they get some sort of cut from sales of the recording - they have a monetary incentive to get it in the theater as soon as possible and maximize sales from the suburbanites coming in to see the show.
Could've made much more money by releasing it as soon as they finished mixing it however many months ago. Like I said in my previous post - on this board, we're all big enough Broadway fans to buy it whenever it comes out. The tourists and families coming in from the 'burbs who have already seen the show wont remember to buy the recording by time it comes out. Hell, they might not even know when it comes out - cast recordings don't get huge, front page billing on the iTunes home page.
