There is no Ragtime love thread so I thought I would start one
A fantastic show, with incredible actors and wonderful music

YES! But the title should say "the official Ragtime love thread" or something along the lines.

Fair enough (that's a good drag queen name)
By the way incredible prof pic
Loves it.
Anyway...so talked to Marcia Milgram Dodge after the show tonight and she is *the* coolest. What a nice woman.
I haven't been this moved by a show in a long time. I used an entire package of tissues.
It's even better than the DC production...how that's even possible I don't know.

I have to add my vote as well here - this is my favorite Broadway show right now - and I'm going back again just so I can hear "Watch Our Children" and "We Can Never Go Back to Before".....just beautiful melodies that will live in Broadway history!
I saw the Kennedy Center production back in April and thought it was INCREDIBLE. I absolutlely loved it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to be up in New York since June, and it doesn't look like I'll be there for Christmas, so =(
Hopefully, I'll get my hand on some tickets in 2010. I need to see this.

I loved seeing the show last week and also enjoyed the segment on the CBS telecast of the Parade with "Wheels of a Dream" and "Ragtime" taped in lower Manhattan with Statue of Liberty and the Eliis Island ferry in the background?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Miss Pennywise, I thought the exact same thing about it being even better than the DC production. I love this show and will be there in a couple of weeks to see it again. The parade segment also brought tears to my eyes.
I saw the show its last weekend in DC and was at the first preview here and then went back about a week ago and seriously they've improved so much. I was so moved by the show when I saw it in DC in May and it has really grown and evolved since then and both times I've seen it on Broadway there really has not been a dry eye in the house. I'm so excited to see them continue to grow because they really do keep getting better.
I love this show to peices. I've seen it 3 times in four weeks. Amazing.
I, am also now a fullfledged die hard FAN. What are we called? Ragtimers sounds dumb. I saw the original production on like a third national tour that went through Gainesville, FL several years ago. I was so far away that I think I missed most of the plot points, and was BORED. I went last Saturday and can't wait to go again. Loved the scored, the production, the performances...great theatrical experience all around.
This is an absolutely brilliant production of what is by far the best musical of the past two decades. I can't wait to go back this week.
Once again echoing all the love on here. It's so brilliant. I've been too many times and it's taking all I have not to go again.
Bobby Steggart's facial expressions are truly haunting. His entire performance is incredible, but that stuck out to me the most last night.

Last night I just loved the interactions between Mother and Father. I thought they were so character driven, but not what you'd expect. Fantastic.
Totally agree Eleah. I am more of a fan of Ron Bohmer each performance.

I for one just want to plug some of the others not mentioned yet in any of the threads, the lesser characters who are there only for a scene or two -- Donna Migliaccio as Emma Goldman, who can hit the back of the house without blinking an eye (or using a mic if they'd let her), Eric Jordan Young as Booker T. Washington, just comes out with a warm, strong, powerful presence, and finally Mark Aldrich as Willie Conklin with such a visceral turn at the role. Nice work!
I am loving this Steggert and Bohmer love! They were my favorite cast members when I saw the show in DC.
I tried the lotto yesterday afternoon and this afternoon - lost both times
This is one of the best shows on Broadway right now...I can't wait to see it again!!
Quentin Earl Darrington brings a warmth to Coalhouse. His performance is even better than it was in DC.
Christiane Noll gives a wonderfully nuanced and layered performance as Mother. I love watching the interaction she has with Coalhouse in the scene prior to "New Music".
I didn't appreciate the role of Father until I saw Ron Bohmer's performance. Father's lyrics are all the more powerfull in "New Music". Watch him as he doesn't sing during Sarah's funeral.
Bobby Steggert is absolutely amazing as Mother's Younger Brother.
I like Robert Petkoff as Tateh, but I will admit that I liked Manoel Feliciano's performance better.
The one cut I really don't like is the interlude with Sarah and Mother between "Justice" and "President".
I *really* missed the exchange between Mother and Sarah as well. But I'm so glad to have this show back on Broadway!
Gator, I know during the run of the original production the term "Raghead" was used to refer to the fans, but I'm not sure if that ever really caught on. Hmm...

We are Coalhouse!
Just saw the matinee today and was so ready to try and win the lottery for the night show! I was so overwhelmed at the power of this piece. It's always been one of my all time favorites, but this incarnation is so breathtaking i wept early and often.
And, Lynn Ahrens was in attendance, so that was a delightful bonus and an honor.

Definitely in the top 3 favorite experiences I have had in the theatre. This show needs a cast recording immediately... And a PBS release in the future
lost the lotto again this evening...it was packed!
