Innnnteresting! Can't wait to see how casting develops! And maybe -- just MAYBE -- we'll get a decent English-language cast recording out of it. Updated On: 2/16/06 at 06:16 PM
Well, just as I was about to jump up and down with excitement, I began to think....wait a minute....are we going to get the cut-down cast and half-virtual orchestra that London got the last time the show moved theatres there? I hope not, but it IS Cameron Mackintosh. If so, leave me with my existing Les Miz memories and count me out.
"Do you know ChrisLovesShows?" "Yes. Why, yes he does!"
I'm already wondering whether this will be considered a revival -- it has been 3 1/2 years, after all. On the other hand, it will be the exact same staging, set, direction, etc. On the OTHER hand (I'm starting to sound like Tevye), revivals have reproduced staging and choreography in the past and have still been considered revivals. Or with the 6 month engagement it could be considered a special theatrical event, but I suspect they'll put it down as a revival to make the performers eligible for the Tonys (it is, perhaps suspiciously, a 6 month engagement, the minimum amount of time required in the new Tony category). I am excited only because I have never seen it live. That is sad since I am well into my 20's. I had the oppertunity to see it on a school trip in college, but chose not to spend the money. Zoinks! Now, I have a chance to see it.
Other than my selfishness, I have to ask why, as well.
<< Gavin Creel and Kate Baldwin making vocal love... I adore these two.
