as per NY Times online, the show will be considered a revival, elligible for the 06-07 Tony awards. Only 3 years have to pass for a show to be elligible.
Les Miz was the first Broadway show I ever saw (I was 9 years old, and truly captivated by it). So despite the fact that I really dislike Machintosh productions, this show holds a special place in my heart.
With so many shows trying to find a theatre....LES MIS is coming back...
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Um...just...whoa. So many thoughts are going through my head right now! I'm very shocked, very happy, and I have many questions. When do tickets go on sale, can it get a Tony, will it be sold out in 2 seconds, and...don, don, don...the cast? Oh, and it opens right around my b-day too. Well, I'm shocked. This is very cool :)
Yessica, on the contrary, every theatre is booked (with the exception of the Schoenfeld where Chita is folding this weekend, very prematurely), and there are a lot of shows wanting to come in.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.
"What is Colm doing now adays? Bring him home to play Valjean once more!"
As far as I know, he's going to be in Pirate Queen.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!!!!!!! I never got to see it ON BROADWAY! Only on tour. This is my favorite show and the one that got me into musical theater. I am so making a special trip out to NY for this. Oh ya!
LET OTHERS RISE TO TAKE OUR PLACE UNTIL THE EARTH IS FREE!
my prediction? It knocks DRS's out of the Imperial and goes back to it's home. The Broadhurst is too small for the show revamped or not.. that is just my gut feeling.
This is good news if, for no other reason, Forbidden Bway can keep it in the show as it is one of the funny skits they ever have done. They probably will update it though
The Broadhurst house is smaller but the stage is not much smaller than the Imperial, so there shouldn't be any changes in the production.
As far as casting, here's what www.broadway.com has to say about that, which is what I am hearing also.
"The upcoming Broadway production will use the physical aspects of the tour and will feature some current company members as well as performers cast especially for the New York engagement. "
