My bet is that Rachel will stand on an elevated platform on the stage with a balcony railing at the front. Singing from there. Or edit the live from the balcony audio over a multicamera edit of all videos of her performing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" from last summer in London. I know it won't hit the same but it's better than nothing.

When this was first FIRST announced, I imagined that she would simply sing the song on the actual balcony of the theatre.

I so don't believe is was only one issue among many. I can't imagine how a star singing in in public the middle of a theater district in any major city in any country wouldn't also be a major logistical nightmare. I can't believe it was any more or less of one in the West End. Just as there wasn't much difference in terms of a logistical nightmare between "Sunset Blvd" being played on the street in both cities.

It's the threat of violence that is halting this, pure and simple.

And where was that staging of the title song to Sunset Blvd staged? An open field with no trafic or crowds in sight?

The “Sunset walk” wasn’t a “everyone crowd the street for hours before the show starts to get a good spot” like “Evita” is.

The fact that the staging required an external balcony at all eliminated the majority of theaters it could even have gone into. Even without the safety risk, it was always going to be tough to make happen here.

I think they’ll do a little better than this deeply uninspired take.

People are being cast in Hollywood based on their number of followers. In today's environment it's apparently very important.

The comparison was between Tom Francis on the street and Rachel Zegler on the street.

The balcony viral moment got the show a lot of attention and was arguably one of its big selling points and marketing headline grabbers.

Without that on Broadway, im curious to see how the show does and if they can come up with another gimmick that will get eyes on them
