looking at what’s available for next week on telecharge I reckon Mincemeat might gross well over double what MHE did in its first full week, despite having 250 fewer seats, and might not be far off the ATP MHE current achieves. Whatever ends up happening it evidently has far from zero name recognition/buzz out the gate.

Quite the opposite actually....

She's never seen it of course, she's just obsessed with Maybe Happy Ending like all the other 15 year olds in the world.

I actually don't like it all that much. I saw it once, and thought it was pleasant. Best Book for sure, serviceable score.

Wow, if the Telecharge seating chart is to be believed, and there aren’t massive sections of seats being held by the production, Mincemeat looks set to sell out for the entirety of next week.

I agree that Mincemeat, Outlaw and MHE are the top three. And, because I just can't excited about MHE, that will win. (I kid, I kid - but that is just my luck!)
I haven't seen the other two yet, so really don't have an opinion past this.

That's what happens when a show does a promotion/flash sale offering a ton of $39 tickets for 24 hours.

And of course CoffeeBreak is obsessed with hating Maybe Happy Ending, in case anyone forgets they spent the first several weeks in the review thread panting for its imminent closing (that they were so sure was about to happen), rebutting every positive comment with a negative one, and saying how all their Tony voting friends (of which they have so many) though the show was weak, and Darren Criss isn't Asian enough to be in it, etc. etc.

Their biases have been as well-established as anyone else's around here. It's no surprise they're the loudest voice against it in this thread.
- Someone who thought MHE was...fine, is seeing Mincemeat next week, and may see DO when the prices aren't insane.
^ I adore CoffeeBreak and wasn't talking about them but I appreciate your thoughts on the musicals. I haven't seen all of them so I can't offer my opinion (show vs show) yet.

You were calling out a poster's supposed bias (incorrectly as it turned out), by sneering that someone must be a 15-year-old obsessed with a show not to be bashing it. As long as you're discussing biases, it seemed worth pointing out the established bias of the loudest voice in the thread (someone with the emotional maturity of a 15-year-old to be such a firmly devoted hater that they've never been able to let a positive comment go uncountered), as well as being open about my own. I hope you enjoy the shows you have yet to see.
Anyone saying that any of Mincemeat, Outlaw, or Happy Ending are out the running is just plain wrong. All three of these are critically acclaimed shows from critically acclaimed teams.
I'm rooting for Mincemeat. But, I wouldn't be disappointed if any of these won and I'd also love to see them split the awards. Give musical to Mincemeat, book to Happy Ending, score to Outlaw.

There is absolutely NO hate for MHE from us. Rediculous. We thought it was a cute evening out with some nice visuals. And the possible quick "closing" you suggest, for many weeks, was indeed in the cards if there was no turn around. Other shows WERE looking at those houses as the producers were unsure of MHE selling. Period. A fact established by financials. We follow the money and, at that point, there was none. That was commentary on those facts, nothing more.
Your "obsessed" suggestions indicate more about you than us. Makes me wonder your connection to MHE, rather than my lack of connection to ANY of these shows - but someone who following shows producing and finances.
We have just enjoyed both Operation Mincemeat and last year's Dead Outlaw more than MHE - and found them both to be the most oringinal and completely new musicals of the season. That's it. Case closed. It's an opinion and I'm hardly alone in it.
Troll elsewhere and on someone else, please.

Yeah no, none of that happened and next time ask to whom someone is referring when (incorrectly) responding. It will save you some time in the weirdly aggressive bitching department. Your anger towards CoffeeBreak is wild tho.
And I hope to enjoy all of them, thanks so much! 😘
It's going to be an interesting spring for sure. I was not entirely taken with Maybe Happy Ending like most on here, but seem to be in the minority. Definitely looking forward to the upcoming crop of spring musicals, though!
Do we think Smash, Boop or Real Women Have Curves have some possibility? We didn't see Boop or RWHC out of town.

It's a fact that CoffeeBreak has made many, many negative posts about Maybe Happy Ending. That's their right, of course, and it doesn't bother me at all, but it's obviously true.
There have also been a lot of positive mentions from us. (maybe those are more on reddit). Don't want to be known as negative - but realistic and honest in opinion. Will be more positive in the future while being honest. We have liked other things more, that's all.

Did anyone see Boop or Real Women Have Curves out of town? Might by tickets soon if they were received well by folks on here.

The only show I can speak to thus far is Boop!, which I saw three times in Chicago. They made some fairly significant changes from the first to last show, but they definitely still had work to do (and I hear there were further changes that were planned in Chicago that never made it to the stage there). It’s a cute fun show that I hope has improved further, because it could be such a good time in the theatre.
I won’t make any solid predictions at this point, but this should be a fun, hotly contested 3-horse race for best musical, the likes of which we haven’t seen since 2017.
Soak it all in, because BENJAMIN BUTTON is next year’s runaway.
Last year was a pretty tight race too with best reviewed show Illinoise, The Outsiders, Suffs & Hell's Kitchen.
Can't wait to see BUTTON! Seeing it soon in London. Will they bring the full UK cast over next spring?

I saw Women at the ART. I really enjoyed it, but it was not yet B'way ready - and the potential was definitely there.

That’s the intention, yes.

I loved the play, the 2002 film, and the musical. It's uplifting, fun, heartbreaking, gorgeous and really solid when I saw it at ART. But, it needs a name to help sell tickets in New York and even though I personally think the cast is stacked with talent, no one in it is hugely well known. There will be some great promos and deals to get it going soon tho.

As someone who is not 15, I find this type of comment condescending and not really necessary. Why do people have to be so negative and snotty on this board? Yea, I adored MHE. So go ahead, make some other disparaging remark.
